Has anyone got experience with Domperidone to increase milk supply?

Plunket said to ask the GP about it which I did. He has prescribed 10mg, 3 times a day for 2 weeks.

How long does it take to show an effect?

Is it something I could take only fri/sat/sun when my supply is at its worst or does it need to be taken consistently?

I would have asked the GP but it was the first time he's heard of it being used for milk supply and his medicines textbook didnt give much info on it besides saying it was a side-effect of the drug.

Ive used it.
Ummm Im not too sure, I found that it increased about 18 hours after I took the first tablet, so maybe if you took it fri morning, sat and sun morning then it would and then drop it during the week... I ended up on 4 x 10mg a day, and had to wean off it, but if you were only taking 1 a day then you shouldnt have that issue?
Give it a go and see what happens? Or ring an LC and see if tehy have any advice?

I've used it too, and it definitely boosted my supply when I took it consistently.  Check out this http://www.nbci.ca/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=14:domperidone-getting-started-&catid=5:information&Itemid=17 - info sheet about Domperidone that my LC emailed me.  And also http://www.drjacknewman.com/ - Dr Jack Newman's site for more info.

Here is another snippet of info from his site that might be useful:

"How long does it take for domperidone to work?
It depends on the situation. In a situation where the mother had had a good milk supply, but it decreased for some reason (e.g. going on the birth control pill), domperidone often works very rapidly to increase the milk supply. Often, within a day or two the mother is seeing a difference (and so does her baby). But this is not always so, and in many situations, it may take a week or more for the mother to start getting an effect. On occasion, we have had mothers only starting to get an increase in their milk supplies a month or more after starting to take it. Therefore, we generally recommended that the mother take the domperidone for at least six weeks in order to be sure whether it has worked or not."
