One of my friend's 4 month old twin daughters was diagnosed with leukemia this morning. Mum had been concerned about baby for a few days, took her to the after hour gp who told her that she has reflux. Then ended up taking her to the hospital a&e at 3am. By mid morning they had diagnosed her.
This afternoon Mum and baby have been transported up to Starship from Tauranga.

I agree, way too young! But glad that they know exactly what they are dealing with and hopefully they are able to act quickly enough to minimise or eradicate.
Big hugs for your friend and her little one. Will be praying also

Thank you for your kind prayers, thoughts and words.
Dad and grandparents are staying in the Ronald McDonald house with the well twin. The social worker in Tauranga set that all up before they left here.
Today is the day all the results come back as to exactly how serious, what sort, where it is etc. They have a big meeting with the doctors to go over this and talk about the treatment plan.

Ronald mcdonald house is great for families, I'm pleased that they have the support there.
I'll be crossing everything for good news for them!!

Okay, the news isn't that good. The baby has acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. Because of her age she has a 50/50 chance. She will be having a blood transfusion then starting chemo.

That's a 50% chance of a full recovery too! I would take those odds and beat 'em! Love and prayers to her and the family, can't think of my 4 month old being in that situation.

They will be in my thoughts too.
I'm always amazed at how strong these little ones are. Tell the family to use all the facilities that are available to them, and get all the support they can.
Come on little one, show them all how strong you are xoxo

The baby started chemo on Saturday and seems to be coping well with it. They were originally told she would be spending two months straight in starship then depending on how things are going may be able to go home periodically. Now they may be allowed to spend some nights at Ronald Mcdonald house! Looking good!!
