I'm about to book a flight but it asks me for a passport number for my daughter who hasn't got a passport yet.
Any suggestions on what to do? I'm sure I've heard of people booking flights before the baby was even born - what did you do in that case???

I booked online with AirNZ for my DD who did not have her passport yet. I also didn't add my passport info when booking, it was an option whether to do it or not.

I think it depends on the airline you're travelling with. Air NZ dont require one but some others like Emirates do. When I booked flights before DS was born it wouldnt allow me to book for him as he didnt have a PP number. Once he was born and we got his PP I rang the airline up and gave them the details and requested a bassinet. We didnt have any issues doing it that way.

Our flights are booked with Emirates too. We checked with them and booked the adult flights and can add his flight when we get his passport... I'm hoping it arrives back soon!!
Perhaps ring and check with the airline?

Yeah, I will call Thai Airways, hopefully they are open today as I found a really nice and reasonable cheap fare.
Thanks for the replies. And god idea about booking the babies flight later - I didn't even think of this!
Des - when are you coming to NZ and how old will your little guy be then?

Jeez, not sure when we'll be home Susi, DH keeps changing the launch date! (Bit hard to predict due to the work rate of the locals - grrr.)
He says "Sometime this year! But most likely by June at the latest." So sometime between March and June I guess... DS will be somewhere between 4 and 7 months old.
