Does anyone know if there are any insect repellents out there that are safe for babies under 1 year? Our little one is 10.5 months and we are taking her camping in Northland over Christmas, and I'm a little worried about the mozzies cos they can be a little fierce where we're going.

We got one from Health 2000 when sproglet was little (like 4 months) and we were travelling to Aussie. Not sure how successful it was but it was all natural.

Hmm... I just sprayed Jacob with regular stuff the other day, didn't even think about it, perhaps I should have. Are the regular ones not OK?

I don't know about the regular ones, but most of them have DEET which is fairly nasty stuff. I have no idea what the recommended exposure level is for young babies though.

There is a Tui insect balm, it does have beeswax in it though which i'm not too sure about, but I used it on my 4 month old once. I will be buying some for myself, but my girl is 1 now.

I got a kids  roll on from the chemist yesterday (can't remember the brand) that says it is suitable for 6months plus. All of the other ones say 2+ so it pays to read the back of them.

I have seen some sunblocks (Cancer Society for example) that have insect repellent in them. 30SPF but not sure if it's gentle enough on babies skin...
