I like the idea of a musical mobile to settle baby and I have one for the cot but he's not going into that until 6 months.

In the meantime Im not sure what to use, as I haven't seen a mobile that fits on a bassinette anywhere?

If you use music to help sleeping how do you go about that when your baby is sleeping in a bassinette? CD player? Singing yourself? Music box type toy? Or if you do have a bassinette mobile where do I find one?

Thanks heaps

We play music during day sleeps and just have a wee c.d player in her bedroom.

Do you have the bassinette and cot in the same room? Maybe you could put the bassinette beside the cot and attach the mobile to the cot so it is hanging over the bassinette? Although I think you can get mobiles for bassinettes.

Most mobiles are for use until 5 months (with the animals or whatever dangling) and then forever with just the musical box if that makes sense.

I have a tiny love one - http://www.walmart.com/ip/Tiny-Love-Sweet-Island-Dreams-Mobile/12437639?wmlspartner=jXot6eVeYJg&sourceid=16036941623280280891 - link . And the musical box detaches from the moving animals (can't think of their name lol!) but you could easily just place it on a bedside table next to the bassinet.

Also - you must have one big bassinet??

We use music with either a CD, or with the baby monitor. A friend of mine uses http://www.iqbaby.co.nz/product/fisher-price-soothe-and-glow-seahorse/ - this toy with her wee one, and she's transferred into her cot with no difficulty.

I just put the music box from our tiny love mobile near the bassinett and that worked, and when she went into the cot I put the animal part on.

I hung a wee toy from the bassinett to for her to look at. (was a cariboo).

We've got a http://reviews.fisher-price.com/6194/41856/reviews.htm - Fisher Price Aquarium . It attaches to a cot but I've just got it on a shelf next to his bassinett, and you can switch it to just sound so you're not wasting battery on lights / movement that he can't see.

LilNic maybe I got the timing wrong I thought they were in the bassinet till 6 months, I just meant he'll go into the cot when he outgrows it sorry for confusion.

I have the tinylove mobile too so Ill try detaching it thanks.

I have hung up a toy now for him to look at too, good idea.

We have a glow bug/sea horse thing. It's like a soft toy that sits in his cot. You squeeze it and the tummy lights up and plays these soothing tunes. Plays for about 5 mins.

The good thing about this is he can turn it on himself if he ends up completely addicted to it. Sometimes i hear him turning it on in the night - not sure if on purpose.

Those seahorse toys are from the Warehouse or Farmers (and probably other places too), think ours was about $25. We got it when DD was small and she still loves it.
We also have one of http://www.leapfrog.com/en/pages/support/product_pages/my_pal.html - these (Scout) - it plays 2, 5 or 10mins of bedtime music, says baby's name (you can plug it into your computer to program in the name) and also plays other songs and little sayings etc. She loves that too

Yup sea horse from Farmers or Warehouse, and the like.

All good, didn't mean it in a nasty way! Lily out grew hers at 3 months and it was a bigger bassinet that the standard ones you get in shops.

Oh yeah and DD was a small baby but was in her cot by 8wks as even though she still physically fit the basinette, she moved around so much I was scared she would tip it over lol. Apparently some babies actually lie still though

we have a glow worm too hehe (got given that and the Scout toy)

We have a gloworm but ours only plays one song at a time and DD still hasn't worked out how to turn it on!

Lily was a wriggler in her bassinet too!

We have a starlight dreamshow. Absolutely awesome, and Ds still loves it now.

It plays music and projects images onto the ceiling
