DS doesn't have my much body fat and always gets soo cold at his swim lesson. I saw toddler wetsuits at the warehouse, and I'm considering getting one.
Does anyone use wetsuits for their toddlers, if so what brand and what do you like or not like about it. Thanks |

I use them but thats mroe because we spend the summer at the lakes down south and they are rather chilly. We brought the warehouse one in a size 1 and its not that flash. Have just brought a more heavy duty one for DS1. -------------

We have got one from the Warehouse its a size 4 but fits O really well and he just turned 3 and is quite little for his age. Apparently these guys are great and can make to order / alter existing wetsuits that they have - http://www.seaquel.co.nz - www.seaquel.co.nz (they dont show them on their website - but contact them or go and see them if you are in Auckland!) This is a bit off topic but if you dont want to go to the expense of a wetsuit you could just get a long sleeve polyprop to go under his togs. My DD was cold over winter and her swim teacher suggested this, it works perfectly. Polyprop holds the heat in even when it is wet and you can just chuck it in the wash with the togs afterwards. She also has a stretchy material swim cap to keep her head warm which works well too. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

DS already swims with his polyprop and still shivers!!! I think hes like his mum and needs the water really warm! I rarely find it warm enough to swim in the ocean in NZ, even in the bay of islands!!
Might try the hat tho. Hadn't thought of that. thanks |

We got a wetsuit for Ella a couple of summers ago and it has been great. She wears everything she goes to the beach and spends AGES playing in the water and has never once complained about being cold. We got ours from the warehouse and its a size 4 and has lasted a couple of years and still fits it this year (I think next year we will have to get a new one). I just got on off trademe, they are called sandhoppers (made by puddle jumpers), only $20! Just picked it up today, have not tried it on my daughter yet but the quality looks great. It is sleeveless so I will just put rash top under it for down at lake. I think it might have been listed under clothing and other? ------------- http://lilypie.com">

I looked at the sandhopper ones but DH vetoed as said the boys would still be cold. The bigger sizes at the warehouse are heaps better and thicked. The sizes 1 and 2's I have noticed have non wetsuit type material for the coloured insert bits in the legs. The bigger sizes are all wetsuit material. -------------

| I have a full on Rip Curl one in size one. It was the smallest I could find and same price as the Warehouse ones. DD has next to no fat and i use polyprops underneath. Works well and she feels heaps warmer. |
