Am I the only one guttered to see that two models have been named as winners for 2010 egg maternity wear competition.

If models are what they wanted, why didn't they just hire them and not run a competition. I would feel pretty stink knowing I was going up against top models.

Oh Dear!!! Def think its not a fair comp then. If they wanted it to be fair then no one with previous modelling experience should apply

I love those REAL women comps where they do have a few lumps and bumps etc.........those others are just gonna make you feel worse. And To be honest EGG seems to be only targeted towards beautiful women.....

how about run a competition where they make over some typical drabby tired over worked housewife and then run a competition.......that would get my attention!!!

Yeh its interesting how TWO models/celebs won. When you read the entry thing it says anyone globally could enter and they pride themselves in using REAL women - gee does that mean if you don't look like a model your not normal.

Surley if the comp was global they could find two ordinary and gorgeous every day pregnant women who would be suitable for the comp.

They're gorgeous, and good on them - but I agree, if the way the competition was hyped, it's a really bad look to pick two people who are professionals at this.

Oh yeah, totally agree that they were pretending to be going for "real women" but actually looking for the perfect example of a "real woman"

From memory the year before when they ran this competition they picked a 'regular' woman, not someone with acting/modeling experience... guess this year they wanted that 'celeb' factor (though IMO I don't really consider Aja Rock a celeb... not sure how I would describe her though!)

I see in some of their other advertising campaigns they've used Carly Flynn when she was preggers too.

LOL thank goodness it wasn't a roll model competition then

They could have at least picked one "regular woman". Two celeb/models is pretty bad.

I emailed an enquiry last night to egg and a lovely lady phoned me today.

She said they felt so terrible, because it wasn't until they released the winners that they found out Monique is also a celebrety. She said they will be issueing a public statement regarding this and apologising and that from next year there will be clause stating that no models or celebrities will be able to apply.

I thought that was so lovely for her to phone and say that and to also apologise to all women on behalf of EGG.

So good outcome ladies

So nice that they called you... good on them.

When I did my photo shoot last week I used a gorgeous Mum to be who's a fan of my FB page. I think the photos look just as good as if I used a model.

Nice job Egg, for responding (and by phone!!) though.

I'm not surprised Aja Rock won. I'm not entirely sure I would want her to be a representative of Egg. She is a bit.... well some of her behaviour can lead alot to be desired.

I'm glad they are putting that clause in next year though

yep I'm sure she'll be glad that staff sign contracts at the places she has frequented. As would a few other "respected" celebrities that have the wholesome image

Haha...i used to work for a hotel in chch, and we'd have celebs (or "celebs") semi-frequently. I never have to sign anything because i have no contact with them but front of house, housekeeping, reception, the guest shop etc have to sign saying they will respect their confidentiality etc etc. Not that they do, housekeeping is always buzzing about what mess they left, or what they left lying around the room.

Kazpar, looks like you're next in line then, if you time it all right you'll be just the right amount of pregnant when the next comp comes around

And i'll always remember Aja Rock as the skanky chick with implants on treasure island (thats seriously all i know her for!) not really a wholesome mother image for a maternity company!

Awww bowie I'll have to try my best then

LOL that's all I remember her from to. Have seen a few things since then, but yeh, not exactly a wholesome mother image I agree.

yeah thats the first that anyone really knew of Aja, and then wasn't she the one in the limo with some big musician I can't remember who it was now.

Haha yeah with friends the dirt always gets spilled, but a public forum not such a good idea hospo staff like to trade stories LMAO but thats cos they're so used to it. A friend worked at Millenium when Robbie Williams was here and she had a few stories too
