Hey everyone,
Just wondering if this is *normal*. I went off the pill a few months ago, we had always planned to start trying in November and wanted my body to adjust before then as I have been on the pill for years (im 31 - first baby).

I didnt get AF for 3 months then last month I got my period (YAY) which was all normal. The 3 months I didnt get my period I felt like I had it, had all the symptoms but no blood. Then this month I have missed my period again, yet had the period symptoms again. I thought when I got my period last month I was back on track but now I am confused (definatly not pregnant).

Not sure if this is regular or if I should go see my doctor.

Cheers
Louise

Hey Louise
I would go to your doc and get some blood tests done for hormone levels.....trouble is you will have to wait till your next AF to go as they test on CD2 or 3 for the first ones, then CD21(or more accurately 7dpo) for the others. No good playing a guessing game....the sooner you get sorted, the sooner you will have that wee bundle of joy.
Best of luck.....hope your journey is short

I second what Tarns has said as well. You could also try Vitex to help sort your cycle out or perhaps accupunture.

Good luck I hope you get it sorted

Could possibly be Poly cystic ovaries just at a guess. I have it Basically one of the big signs is irregular periods. I can often go anywher up to 4 months without AF. Sometimes I'll get it twice in one month The only way to regulate it is to be on the pill which doesn't help when your trying to get pregnant lol. There are a range of other symtoms which don't always show up on everyone. Like exsessive body hair or weight gain.

The Doctor can find out by taking a blood test. My understanding is in some cases it can eventually lead to infertility but only in extreme cases I think for most (like me) it's just a pain in the ass lol. So I wouldn't panic a lot of women have it and it didn't stp me from having twins

End of the day best thing to do is check with you doc. All the best x

Hi LandG..

I was on the pill for years, and when I came off it, I didnt have a period for 8 months.. and then all of a sudden it decided to become regular... and I managed to conceive a healthy baby first pop... So its possibly just your body trying to figure itself out... Hang in there its bound to come right!!! All th best for TTC! I hope its easy for you! XX

HI LandG

It sounds regular to me. I was the same when i first came off the pill.My cycles were so terrible, all over the place and different everytime. After 6 months i got a bit fed up and i actually started seeing a naturopath who started me on some hormone regulating herby tonics, and i acually fell pregnant the next month. I know everyone is different, however i really recommend seeing a naturopath, at least to try and right your body using natural theropies before the doctors give you the chemical ones. If you would like the naturopaths details, PM me.

Good luck!

I would absolutely see a Dr. It could just be your body adjusting to being off the pill, or it could be something throwing your cycles out, and there's no real way of knowing otherwise. I had a similar thing when I came off the pill, and regret the time I wasted waiting things out when a quick trip to the Dr confirmed I had PCOS.

The thing is, the only real way you can know if you're ovulating is by getting some bloods done - and you need to ovulate to get pregnant. Once you know what the story is you can make decisions about what to do from there - get some medical help, contact a naturopath, etc.

I would go see your doctor however I just wanted to add that there might not be something wrong, the pill does crazy things to your body when you go off it, it took me a while to get a period after I came off the pill then I didn't have regular periods until about a year after that time, I think I had about 2 months between some cycles. When I did get regular my cycle was much longer than it had ever been before.

But I wouldn't be afraid to go to the doctor, I think at first they would do bloods to check your hormone levels etc and talk to you about any symptoms you might have of things like PCOS (that's what happened with me but I didn't have PCOS) and then go from there and do the bloods to see if you're ovulating.

It's always a good idea to go to the doctor when you're starting to TTC anyway so try not to stress and just go have a chat with your doctor and see what they say :) I agree it's best to get it sorted sooner rather than later so you don't have to spend agonising months of TTC only to find out something is wrong later, but I'm not saying there will be it's quite possible you're just getting the pill out of your system :)

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your comments. I think that I will wait until when my period is next due (14Nov) and if it doesnt come around then I will head to the DR to get some bloods done.

As I thought it may take a while we arent 'due' to start trying until next month so at this stage I am really glad I didnt start trying straight away or I wouldnt have known what was going on!

Thanks everyone
Louise
