I'm not a fan of hcg monitoring but I am having to go through it as I've been in a lot of pain and the docs are a little concerned about ectopic.

I've been bleeding since Monday. At 10am yesterday my hcg was 69. At 9.30am today my hcg was 97 so it is increasing at close to an appropriate rate.

I'm due to see the doc on Monday so can ask then but does anyone here happen to know if it is usual for hcg to still be increasing 5 days into a suspected miscarriage (i.e. after 5 days bleeding).

Hmmmm, no its not normal for it to keep rising if it was an actual miscarriage

You could just have random bleeding going on?

One of the things they monitored during my ectopic was hcg cause its quite common for those to keep going up or to just level out. Not meant to freak you or anything. My hcg levels were up around the 1100 mark and I didn't have any bleeding just slightly discoloured discharge.

Are they gonna give you a scan?

Seeing doc on Mon and the nurse mentioned something about a scan. When I went to A&E on Wed night they said it would be too early for a scan to show anything. They thought that my pain was bowel related, not pregnancy/miscarriage related but I had no bowel symptoms other than intense bloating. The bleed is like a normal period and has been going for 5 days. I would've thought after 5 days of bleeding the hcg would be dropping but then I'm no doc. My period was due around Sun/Mon so i'd be early but suspect 97 is still a bit on the low side.

I have no idea about the HCG levels - although as kebakat said they can do odd things with an ectopic pregnancy. But just wanted to say that for my daughter's pregnancy I bled a LOT from about week 6 to week 17. Red fresh blood, enough to have to wear a pad. Sometimes it only went for one day, other times went for 10. I don't want to give you false hope but it might not actually be a miscarriage.

Sounds like a looong wait until Monday to find out what's happening.

hi hun... i have a friend who has just gone through a miscarriage. she went to an early scan at 7wks and found there was no heart beat and measured a week behind. she then had bloods a few days later and her HSG levels were still rising. she had bloods a few days later and then her levels were dropping. apparently the 'sac' was still growing. a follow up scan showed no growth so they then chose to do a D and C.

sorry not to be able to give you much hope... but hope you come through this a ok.

love and hugs. xxx

I had a pregnancy which I have always suspected was ectopic. I bled for 2-3 weeks during which time my hcg fluctuated from 20-150 and then finally fell to nothing when the pregnancy ended.

I also had a pregnancy that got to 20,000 plus before it started to fall and that was a missed miscarriage, although I had no bleeding with that one (ended up having a d&c to end the pregnancy.)

On the other hand it is still possible that everything is ok. As you know hcg monitoring is generally only indicative of outcome. Have my FX for you.
