I have just borrowed Gil Rapley's book on BLW from the library, reading it at the moment. Recommend you get hold of a copy, it's really helpful

I'm planning on doing it for several reasons....its healthy, baby develops good motor skills, want to avoid tea-time tantys...and I'm lazy so only want to cook one meal for everyone

Get the book, although there is usually a waiting list so if you want to start solids at 6 months, best get on to it! It's got lots of info - really good info!

We're doing it and it's great! Lily eat's anything! We did spoon feeding but she hated it and as soon as we switched she was eating everything and now will eat whatever she is given! I think it's really improved her coordination too.

There are heaps of threads on this but I totally recommend it And Im so pleased we did it with Jackson.

And I second getting the book. Its a good read even if you dont do BLW

ETA Jackson eats most things. He does prefer things are plain though, so can get a bit fussy on strange or things for an acquired taste . But he loves his veges and fruit and thats all that matters.

i never got the book lol. i got a watties sheet from plunket about what foods at different ages and just ignored the suggestion to puree.

started with broccoli/cauliflower/banana. moved up to carrot/potato/pumpkin. then added meats into the range. also breads and plains crackers. he loves vegemite. had a hashbrown and some meatloaf with us for dinner last night. eats 2 min noodles (flavourless) and other pastas.

normally whatever we are eating. (but without the extra seasoning) but then again the meatloaf i made had egg soy sauce and tomato sauce mixed into it lol.

and just big enough chunks that he can grab and hold onto. broccoli and cauli are great to start with because they have the "stalk handle" lol.
