Was Healthline helpful? I called them once about DS and they didn't know much about babies, so you could always call the Plunket line since they're more specific to littlies.

I hope it passes easily!

OH NO! It's not funny now...but when he grows up, this'll be one of those stories he relives for ever. It'd also be one of those cool xrays that you can see the object inside!!! I guess one of the big risks would have been choking...and he didn't choke, so that's good.

I'm not sure what to look for sorry...but if A&E Dr DH comes in very soon I'll ask him for you!

Thanks, Helpline was good, told us he would be ok, seen as he was running around like normal straight after. But if he has blood in his poos, or is a bit off. Also he has 4 days to pass the coin or we need to go and see where its sitting. He is eating fine and his normal chirpy self which is good. So we will just watch him carefully for now and hope he manages to pass it! I still feel pretty horrible though!

Will def be one of those stories for later in life!

Oh scary, caraMel posted a thread a few months back cos her son swallowed a coin, but he choked on it very badly and they nearly lost him.

So glad it went down ok for you boy, hopefully it comes out the other end soon!

When my Mum was little (about 4 or 5 I think), she was playing hide and seek with a little pig brooch and her sister/brother (they took turns to hide the pig)..... anyway.... she decided to be clever and hide the pig in her mouth and when finally no-one could find it, she went to tell them where it was and accidently swallowed it, pin and all Her Mum made her eat an entire loaf of dry bread (I guess to try and bind up the sharp parts?), and it passed without incident a couple days later!

So, no real help here, but these things do make for good stories later in life! I really hope your little boy is ok, and it comes out the other end without incident. Kinda scary though!

If he's still up and running around he should be fine. But yeah just watch for it's "passing" in the next few days, blood in poos etc just like Healthline said. Just another one of those stories to bring out when he's all grown up!

I swallowed a 20c coin when I was about 5 (or maybe 6) and it was one of the massive old 20c coins, unlike the new smaller ones of these days. Hurt like a mofo as it went down my throat!! But it passed okay and I was fine.

Well after being a bit panicked for a few days i finally found the coin in his nappy... so i took it out to be sure, only to find it was a 20c piece not a 10c!!! He passed it with no problems at all! We were really lucky! Sounds like Caramel had a horrid time, glad we didnt have that.
