Well where we met and how we ended up together are two very different stories! DP and I first met at kindy, we were actually sort of friends
We would still talk at primary school, I still remember standing at the top of the big slide discussing animorphs books because he had an animorphs t shirt lol. We then went on to separate intermediates and colleges, but then one day a friend of mine invited me over to her house where she had one of her exes staying the night. She had invited him over for her actually, but I ended up making out with him all night. (Funnily enough we're no longer friends) Then when we got around to talking we realised that yes, I was THAT Jamie, and yes, he is in fact THAT Sean!

At youthline, we were doing a self development course he was still at school I had just finished school. I was doing it cos I thought hell its better then sitting on my ass all day everyday and he jumped in the van with all the other guys just because they were going.
I apparently snapped him out when he was saying something about me being flexible in one of "those" sorts of ways lol. I wasn't interested in him for quite awhile we only got together because my brother and I got into a fight and he was being nice to me and comforting me. My friend's parents met on the bus when they were 13 on their first day of highschool,they dated all through school , never broke up , married when they were 21 and have been happily married for 35 years next week, surviving the death of their daughter (my friend ) 3 years ago , and becoming grandparents .

Flatmates here. I had already arranged to move into the house and he moved in as well as we needed the other room filled and I was living with his brother and now ex SIL. We hit off pretty much straight away and we ended up leaving the house not talking to his brother and we took a flatmate with us. DH also went to school with a group of people I knew and I to this day have no idea how we didn't meet earlier, as I had done a few of his friends in that group. ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

We met down at the viaduct harbour near the ferries and had our first date at Starbucks and then Borders Cafe in the city. And we continued to date for a while getting to know each other - it was very romantic and exciting We've been together for 4yrs - married for 1.5.

I met DH through work, he was the IT guy in my my first job when I moved from TGA to AKL when I was 25yrs. I remember he was constantly fixing my macro's... cant even remember what a macro is anymore but I do remember they used to break a lot! We were just work mates then cos he was actually getting it on with one of the Account Managers!
He left that job after about 6mths (I think!) and a few months after that sent me an email out of the blue, we went and saw a terrible movie that same week and we've been together ever since, 10 yrs next March, 3.5yrs married. -------------

I was going out with DFs best mate lol. Decided to break up with my ex not long after meeting DF (complete coincidence) then, while DF was living with my ex, DF and I starting calling each other every night and talking for hours (we lived over 2 hours away from each other)
Less than 2 months after breaking up with my ex, DF was coming and staying for the weekends. 2 months later he moved in

was in 7th form had just broken up with my bf and went to my friends birthday party, my ex was there and i hooked up with this guy that i met (partly cos my ex was watching..partly cos i wanted to) and then he asked me out and i said yes. the next morning he asked for my number and i left and never thought i would hear from him again, thought it was a drunken night thing only. an hour after i got home he rang! was quite funny because neither of us were actually going to go to the party but our friends convinced us to go.

My grandparents met at a dance like they used to have in the 50's! My granddad saw my grandma walk in and thought he was going to marry her and he kept asking her to dance and she kept saying no, then eventually said yes and he walked her home and then they went to dances regularly and would go back to his and listen to records and his mum would always ask when she was going to go home (2-3am) anyway her being from Fiji she was meant to go back home soon, so he proposed to her 6 months after they met and they married 6 months after that, 54 years ago! ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Apparently DH & I met when we were babies! My mum's best friend was working with my MIL at the time, and she is sure that we were both in attendance at her daughters first birthday.
A few years later we both went to the same kindergarten, then later still to the same high school, but we didn't 'officially' meet until 3 years after high school when a friend arranged a weekend away and we both went. Still didn't hook up! About 12 months later we both attended the same low key new years party - still didn't hook up - but after that we were pretty much inseparable and have been ever since. My best friend was so convinced we'd get married she made me sign a piece of paper stating if we did I'd shout her a day at a spa. She even had her mum sign it as a witness. I meet DH at polytech when we were 17, i was doing nanny course and he was doing focus course to get his school work up to strach and then he did automotive course the next year) i meet him threw a friend they were in the same class, and id go have lunch with her everyday. Anyways i went away to vietnam for two weeks(school trip that id signed up to b4 i left school but they let me so that was cool) anf then when i got back i had two week placement and he kept asking my friend where was i (so he was missing me lol)

Technically we met at a bus stop in Clapham Junction (London).
He was my flatties boyfriends brother who had just arrived a week earlier... We went clubbing in Brixton and I threw up on his shoes LOL It was meant to be! We started dating about a month later and he we are almost 6 years later. I love MIL and FIL story... they met in the queue to board the ship back to South Africa after they had done their OE! -------------

This is a great thread gives me the warm fuzzies.
My other half and I met through a friend a bar in Gisborne & neither of us drink lol. We must have been about the only ppl our age in the bar who didn't. From then on he would came all the way across town in his half an hour lunch break pretending to do something else lol (I knew what he was up to but pretended not to notice haha). It was only a couple of weeks later we started going out and have been inseperable for the last 6.5 years. Our baby is due in Oct & we will get married at some point after that.

I first meet my Dh at his step fathers funeral, I was only 15 and was helping my mum with the catering and serving. He was really drunk and slapped me on the behind and said "I'll see you later" I freaked out and went a hid in the kitchen and refused to serve food. He was in town for the week and everywhere I seemed to go he was there. I thought he was stalking me. I told my deli workmate at the time and she just laughed as it turned out he was her DH's best friend. Anyway he went back down south and a few years later moved back with his girlfriend. He was good friends with my brother and father through sailing and diving so they became family friends. I was away working on the crusie ships and I get a call from my mother and the first thing she said was Conrad and Sue have broken up, what do you think of him, do you like him and she kept going on about in. By the end of the conversation I said to her OK will this keep you happy? "I'll come back in Dec, we'll have a Jan Wedding and I'll get preganat in Feb and have a Oct baby. Does that work for you?? Oh and don't forget to tell Conrad we are engaged and the plans." Well when I did get back in Dec it seemed to be the joke around town, that Conrad and I were enegaged (even though he was dating someone else). We spent a bit of time together but didn't get together till just before my 24th birthday June the following year 2005. Built a house 03/06, got engaged Xmas eve 06, Married 01/03/08, preg 06/08, first baby 09/04/09. So that is our massive love story. I married my stalker

DF and I met online in a WWE (Wrestling) chatroom. He was in Oz and I was in NZ. After talking online and on the phone DD and I went to Oz to meet him. We then did the distance relationship thing with alot of trans tasmin travel. Then 18 months or so into the relationship he came here for a holiday and hasn't left. I was in my final year at Canterbury Uni, and went down to Dunedin for my best friend's 21st (I was 21 too). Got rather drunk, went up to this guy and told him he was hot (not something I would usually do lol), we got on very well hehe, but I didn't think I would hear from him again because he said "I left my phone in the bush, i'll get your number off someone" (and I thought "yeah whatever!"). A week later back in Chch I get a text from him asking if I wanted him to come visit, I said yup sure so he came up and that's when we started dating We did the long distance thing for all of 6 weeks before he moved up to Chch and did his study extramurally, then we moved up to Welly at the end of the year and got married a year later (so 19months after meeting). We didn't meet when he was flatting with the friend of a friend. DD's father I met through friends of friends at the illegal street drags in the early 90's Gee what a shocker - I didnt like him and he would follow me round etc this lasted about 12 months before I went there. Lost my virginity and 2months later preggo - 7.5 years later I divorced his cheating ass and havent looked back
DP well -he worked with my ex and that was how we met Saw him out at a bar one night - he told me to behave - I told him to get F'd - no ring on my finger anymore - and well the rest is history.... didnt help I actually thought he was hot before we hooked up lol - Made things a bit awkward when they still worked at the same place for about 12-18months after we got together

I met my DF at the pub lol I was working there part time for a bit of extra cash (already had a 40hr/wk job). One of the girls I worked with kept going on about this gorgeous Irish guy she had her eyes on. He apparently came in all the time with his 6 other Irish mates. One night when I was working, the girl I worked with said 'the Irish guys are here, go upstairs and try and figure out which one it is I've got my eyes on' so I went and had a sneaky look and set my eyes on my now DF adn thought 'he must be the one she likes, he's gorgeous!' When I pointed out to her which one I thought she was like 'him? NO!' so I was like 'wahoo! so I can have him?' hehe. Once we finished work for the night, the Irish lads invited us over to have a few drinks with them and we all ended up getting very drunk and DF and I ended up sitting in a corner playing slaps all night! lol We fell asleep on the couch and woke up in the morning with bruises all over our hands from slapping each other so hard! haha romantic ay! NOT! haha
He was only here travelling with his mates for 1yr and after being in CHCH 5 months they all decided to move down to Cromwell to work on a vineyard. DF and I didn't think the relationship was anything but a casual fling but I drove down to cromwell every weekend after I finished work at 5pm on Friday for the 4 months he was down there. His mates then decided they were going to go up north for the last few months of their trip but DF made the decision to move back to CHCH with me. We later got engaged (we'd ben together 11 months) and now have our DD Still yet to set a wedding date even tho we have been engaged for nearly 3 yrs!-------------

DH and i knew of each other for years before anything happened.
He worked in the petrol station in the small town i lived in, then i worked in a fish and chip shop helping my uncle out in the town that he lived it. We always kinda looked at each other but both had partners. Fast forward a few years and i was in a night club with some friends and he walked in. We spotted each other straight away but he was to shy to come say hi so stood at the bar all night watching me. Eventually i got sick of waiting and went up and said hey to him. We chatted for the rest of the night. When it came closing time i said to him "so you want my phone number" he replied that he didnt have his phone on him. So i said "whats yours then" he said he couldnt remember (we were both pretty drunk by this point) but that it was either this or this. I told him that i would txt both in the morning and if he was wrong then it was his loss. Haha its so funny reading these stories. Well mine and DPs story goes like this:
i was here on my OE from sweden, my mum warned be that ill bet you will meet someone and fall in love. well 2 months before i was going home to sweden, i was out with my friend at the pub. I was tipsy and saw this handsome bloke checking me out, i wandered up to him and said hey. He said "your the famous swedish girl arent you?" i was like what?! he said he had been talking to his mates and they had told him there was this really hot swedish chick in town..[Aww :D] we had friends in commen but dispite going to the same parties for 5 months never but until that night at the pub..any how,spent the night talking until i needed to go. i was tipsy and ended up giving him the wrong phone number.... luckly he gave me his. he spent a couple of days calling the wrong house and i couldnt get hold of him. luckily 3 days after we meet I saw him by chance at the pub again(!!!) went for a date 3 days later.moved in together 3 weeks later. 5.5 years later we are still together and will hopefully get married next year! I met DP when I was 16, I was going out with his best friend from high school. They were not close when we met. I had a major crush on him.
Fast forward 4 years and several boyfriends later, my girlfriends and I needed a flatmate so DP moved in. I still thought he was cute but never thought I'd go there. Anyway one night he gave me a massage and we had a fling (or so we thought). Met DH cos his best mate is my good friend's DP - they came round to drinks at our new flat (just round the corner). Laid eyes on him, decided he was mine. Luckily for me, he had eyes only for me too
He was my one night stand (well actually, slept with him the 2nd drunken night, not the first much to his disgust lol) that never left... and I'm so glad he didn't. Moved in with him 5 weeks later, engaged 5 months after that. Been together 6.5 years and married 3.5

I was lucky, I only started chatting to 2 guys at first when I tried out online dating, one of them being DP... theres actually a really funny story behind it... DP's nickname is Turtle, and the other guys nickname was Rabs (short for Rabbit) anyway... I was chatting to both at the same time, but DP was the one who asked me out on a date first, and after that date I told Rabs that we'd have to keep it to friends only cos I had been 'taken' by someone else... so once I again, the turtle won the race

I had just broken up with my fiance and living in a new town so needed somewhere to live and found a 'flatmate wanted' ad on trade me. Moved in a couple of weeks later. 4 months on we hooked up while at a dance party which we had both decided that it would be then or never! I am hoping to still get down there BK DH has the girls for the weekends (be interesting what will happen once speedway starts) anyway, and he isn't racing this season either, will probably be push car again. There's around 20 midgets signed up this season so yeah. Stratford is only 10 mins down the road from me these days

Dh and I met through a Subaru car club meet up in Christchurch, which was organised through an online club website. Dh tells everyone we met "on the side of the road, via the internet" ... Which I guess is technically true, although we didnt know or talk to each other until we saw each other face to face

Then 3 years later, I was 15 and he was just 17 I got into a fight with a guy he knew and he stepped in as mediator. Took us a few months to click as to where that feeling of deja vu was coming from but we have been together ever since and he will be 21 next month :) |
