whose baby has excessive wind!! No one that I have talked to seems to have this problem. My boy is constantly needing to be burped and no matter how many times I burp him there is always more wind to get out.
Generally it is not a problem getting the wind up, although sometimes it takes awhile. Every feed (solids and BF, especially the solids) is a battle as he gets wind and I spend ages trying to get it out and then he doesn't want to feed properly then he may have a few mouthfuls but then the cycle begins again. So then it effects his sleep as he hasn't fed properly and I can go in and out of him room, picking him from his cot and burping him, getting 2,3,4 burps out at time, then put him back down and leave the room only to have to go back in again (maybe 4,5,6+ more times)
Its starting to really frustrate me and makes me annoyed, even though I know its not his fault and it must be so uncomfotable for him. This is more a vent than anything I guess but if anyone has been in a similar situation, I would love to hear from you. I feel like I am on the only one who has a baby with this problem.
I have tried Infacol, Gripe Water, fennel, osteopath (when he was 6 weeks old), dairy free diet, avoiding the supposed windier foods like onion etc., had latching checked at Plunket Family centre, burping him before, during and after feeds, different burping techniques. I don't know what else, if anything, that I can do.
Woops sorry for the long post!

Tried Colimed?
Gripe water doesn't work like it used to...they took the alcohol out!

Is Colimed by Natrupharm (sp?)? I think we have tried that, only a few times but didn't seem to make much difference.

Have you tried the 6 dose method? The 2 sprays every 15 mins up to 6 times? Then spray before every single feed, but you have to do that a good 5-10 mins before eating.
Try and aim at the cheek or the gum/under the tongue so it goes in through the mucous membranes.

Thanks Kel I will give that a try. When I have used it previously I have only used it about twice, 15 mins apart so probably not using it enough for it to make a difference.
Fingers crossed that it helps.

You could also try Rhuger, it is a natural rhubarb/ginger tincture manufactured by Balmac Pharmacy here in Dunedin, they have an online shop that you can order through.
Its not the cheapest, but I found it awesome to manage Campbell's wind and mild reflux issues when he was younger. I've also discovered ginger tea, he drinks it now to help with his digestion.

This takes me back!
I had a refluxy baby so winding him took as long as bloody feeding him at times!
I tried a few different tinctures but at the end of the day, patience and learning a dozen different burping techniques won over at the end of the day.
Happy for you to PM me if you want a list of the techniques! But otherwise good luck and I promise it doesn't last forever - you won't be sitting him on your lap when he's 3 to get wind up hehe!
