Hi Ladies,
This is a question on behalf of a friend who is having trouble with her cycles.
She came off the pill in November, had 3 longish cycles, 2 normal cycles, one long cycle, one light bleed (considered by Doc to be last period even though was only a day of light bleeding) and is now on CD62 (if not including day of bleed, about CD100+)
I finally convinced her to see the Doctor who just said that she will get her to take bloods whenever the next AF turns up!!!! I wouldn't be happy with that, but she is very laid back about it all, even though she is almost 36 and TTC#1.
My question is, is there any other tests that can be done at this stage that don't involve waiting for the elusive AF?
Anyone had anything similar?
Any other suggestions for her?
Thanks in advance

I'd go to another dr in the medical centre

Ultimately if she is happy with it, it's her call not yours.
You can get an FSH test done to measure ovarian reserves, but I'm not sure if that needs to be at a specific cycle time or not.

Absolutely agree T_Rex - whatever she decides to do or not do is up to her.... and she's the type of person who wouldn't be swayed in any case
I think she asked if I could put the question out there as she wants me to do some information gathering. I think her Dr is not too helpful and she doesn't want to be one of those people who wait and see for ages and then find out there was a real problem afterall that could have been found and fixed earlier.
Will mention FSH to her, but I think that's the blood test that they are waiting for AF for

FSH will be the test her dr was referring too and it needs to be done CD2 or CD3 (they should test a bunch of other stuff at the same time).....
To be honest if it were me I would be inclined to have my HCG/Progesterone tested to confirm that neither ovulation has taken place yet or a pregnancy and then ask for provera to bring on AF so I could get the testing underway.... But I am incredibly impatient!!!!
I had erratic longish cycles (not that long!) so I charted as my ov was a different day each cycle and was to hard to pinpoint. I began to see the signs of ov coming so it did help us pinpoint ov (when it happend).
Oh and on a side note, this bubba I am carrying now was conceived on CD58!!!!! So even long cycles can have happy endings

Vitex is supposed to be good at sorting cycles out. I have 70 day cycles and plan to take it...

I had the same thing happen to me when I came of the pill - af become irregular with long cycles then just stopped, 3 months after my last AF i went and saw the dr, she arranged an ultra sound to make sure nothing was wrong and bloods, when they came back inconclusive she arranged for me to go to a specialist, he put me on clomid and I conceived our dd 2nd cycle - moral of the story ... I would go see another dr
since DD was born and the time she was 1, I had 1 AF( and I stopped breastfeeding to go back to work at 4.5 months) since DD turned 1 I have started vitex and I am getting cycles 28-33 days long so it seems to be working- could also be the fact I am not working and doing more exercise though unfortunately DH works in the mines so haven't managed to time it right yet.

I agree with vitex my cycles were around 60 -70 days and vitex sorted it out and i had them more regularly.
