Ok even though I have 2 kids I am a complete novice at monitoring my cycles as I didn't do this when we were TTC. What is the easiest way to monitor your cycle?
We probably won't TTC till after xmas but I want to see if I am ovulating as I am still bfing Ben and haven't had AF yet. I want to know whether I am going to have to wean Ben so that we can TTC

Check out the Charting Girls thread taking your temp every morning is the best way I know of to check if you're ovulating or not.
Hope that helps

Join www.fertilityfriend.com and start tracking your temps...that is probably the best way.
Tho if you are still getting up in the night I am not sure how the temp thing works...anyone know?

I'm still getting up in the night TaliP so just take my temp whenever I wake up, and use the one nearest morning lol! Might not be 100% accurate but I can still tell by how high/low my temp is what part of my cycle I'm in.

Lindsay, no AF means no ovulation. You can get AF without having ovulated, but you can't ovulate and then not get AF (unless of course you're UTD).
That much I know, but unfortunately I can't help you with the rest. I'm a bit of a novice at it all myself.

You can ovulate without a period & I know of someone who fell pg before getting AF after having her first baby.
DS2 was 8mths old when I feel pg & he self weaned...that was why I tested although AF was regular but I had not paid much notice to it.
You are meant to count back 14 days from end of cycle to get your OV days...so if it 28 days then OV is around day 14 & if you were regular before you could go off that.

Apologies, I was unclear. You can ovulate without first having a period, but you can't ovulate and then not get a period (unless you're UTD).
