wearing...
after the discussion on the confession thread i was wondering what is the one article of clothing you hate your partner/husband wearing?
Is there a piece of clothing in his closet that you wish would disappear?

YES!!! He has this hideous hoody that his Aunty got him in Nepal or somewhere. It's old, shapeless and tatty. I have tried throwing it out numerous times but he keeps finding it!! I have managed to convince him not to wear it in public though so guess that's a bonus.

He's got these jeans he got from Postie Plus and I hate them, they are a horrible fit and a horrible colour and he insists on wearing them.

I sympathise with you mel_b dh has an equally ugly jacket made out of alpaca wool.

His tapered jeans. When he goes shopping for jeans without supervision he gets the same tapered levis jeans in the same blue and they just arent flattering. And then he insists on rolling the bottoms up around home and usually forgets when he puts shoes on so goes out with these ugly rolled up jeans

I will admit that is me at the moment, they are my fave pair of jeans, they are nicely scuffed down the bottom and so damn comfy and I don't want to throw them out! I do need another pair as I've only got one other.....

OMG I could have written this exact scenario
I have slowly weaned him off white sports socks though! Only black socks now live in his drawer

blondy - you have made my night! lol
Hes bad with the socks thing too, he had socks in his drawers (until 2 days ago) that he has owned since before he met me! (so probably 6+ years old) that had massive holes. So I went and brought some new socks a few days ago and said to him hes not allowed to get them until he throws the old out. He thought that was quite the good deal cause he didn't have to go shopping himself.

His old stretched work singlets. I know no one sees them except me, but I wake up to him putting them on every morning and they're just not good.
I've broken the jeans thing (though I still think he should get ones that are more fitted - he has a great butt after all!) and the old kathmandu jerseys don't bother me (great when I'm 40 weeks pregnant). I've also broken the hole-y underdaks that his mum bought when he was 17. To me, it's all about what's underneath

Mrs_B - my dad has a top that looks EXACTLY like that . My uncle bought it in Mexico (or perhaps it was Nepal - somewhere like that anyway) for him - only his came with a bright red poncho to wear over the top. He once wore it to a school fireworks gala when I was a teenager - I was hanging out with my friends when they spotted him across the field and laughed "Hey, theres a poncho man!", I was like "Uh, thats my dad.....". Lol, they bit their tongues pretty fast.
The only things I don't like DP wearing are pants that are too short for him (he's quite tall) and these shoes that he got when he was a teenager but are way too big for him so he has to tie the laces up really tight. Luckily he has given the the shoes and too short pants away now (no prompting from me necessary). He looks good in everything - even manky farm clothes.

Nothing I hate as such, but he does insist on wearing his underpants until they're holey and about to fall off him.
He refuses to let me buy him socks and undies so he puts off buying replacement ones for ever.
DH didn't own any decent clothes before he met me, everything was either uniform or tramping gear.
I've made sure he has a nice wardrobe.

Two things. His hideous blue bush shirt that looks like a blue "Crocodile Hunter" shirt my MIL bought from Australia. And a black t-shirt that's so baggy it looks like a sack on him advertising some kind of rum. He's got two of those I once threatened to get rid of them but I haven't got the guts.

Hahaha these are really funny
well my DP insists on wearing his dam army pants that hes cut into 3 1/4 short type things (he was in the army for 6 years and left over 2 years ago ). i despise them , when we first got together i remember him coming over one night wearing them and i was just sitting there starting at them thinking "what on earth are you wearing ???? " it only got worse from there , the more comfortable we got with each other the more he wore them , to the mall , coffee with friends , to the movies ... always wearing his dam army shorts . he had about 6 pairs when we first met (9 months ago ) now we are down to about 2 pairs , i swear if i was allowed i would have had a burning ceromony for the other 4 pairs . since being together iv managed to con him into buying a pair of smart jeans ( he didnt own one pair of long pants or jeans - lived in 3 1/4 shorts all year round ) and 2 shirts . I know he doesnt like to admit it but i think hes quite fond of his new clothes , iv noticed he wears them quite often now after swearing they would only be for good . think its all the comments from his family and friends hes been getting about how much better he looks these days

Oh, um, the one thing I really hate is that he wears pyjama pants and a tshirt to bed and he always tucks his tshirt in before he gets into bed. I'm like "What are ya? the first day i went to watch my DP play touch he was about to run on and he pulled his shorts up real high over his shirt like a real grandad, i asked him what he was doing and he very proudly replied " if i tuck my shorts in its harder for people to grab me and i run faster, no-one else thinks about it " ... hmmmmmm ok babe , maybe they have thought about it but realise how stupid they look if they did it ,it is afterall just a friendly game of touch , not the world champs, i dont think airo dynamics are that important ......

I was "lucky" and all DH's clothes got stolen with his car when we had not been going out long, he had them packed to go away (it sucked about the car but NOT the clothes) I promptly took him shopping and he has never looked back, now he has better clothes than me sometimes BUT he has this hideous fishermans style hat thing that he insists on wearing when he mows the lawns I HATE IT but he normally has no shirt on either so I let it slide
Oh and he is the same with his socks and underwear, I just throw them out and then he has to get new ones because otherwise he would have none to wear.

Chuckle. At least your guy only does this to bed. Left to his own devices mine tucks all his shirts in with his pants up high. A bad look made worse by his.....lets call it "cuddlyness". Now my EX husband is a complete different matter. He would only wear either his Army pants (he was in the army) or his god damn Barkers track pants he refused to replace so ended up by *fixing* them with duct tap all the way around the inside. *rolls eyes*

What a crack up - this thread is hysterical! My DH's boxers (he only wears boxers - refuses to wear anything tight as it is uncomfortable apparently) are often holey and so are all his 1 billion pairs of black socks that he owns. I told him we'll buy more when he cuts his long hideous toenails Many of his boxers have holes in them - some of them huge rips.. and I ask him why he still wears them. I have thrown out t-shirts with huge stains and holes.
DH never wears pyjamas to bed thank goodness - sometimes he pulls his boxers over his t-shirt way up past his middle as a joke... but he does do it to our son when he dresses him - pulls his pants right up and sometimes tucks his socks over the bottom of his pants!! I have to sort it out and tell him I don't want our baby son looking like a nerd!!!
The more I think about it, maybe I need to do something about his wardrobe, it's quite bad.

I think I must be really lucky. DH is not super-styley and I wish he would be more adventurous with clothes, but he doesn't embarrass me. He wears good quality suits to work (so looks hot) and then wears surf tshirts and tops during the weekend.
He has a couple of shabbier tshirts but these days he just wears them to bed, which pleases me.
What does annoy me though is that he will not try different types of jeans. He gets his jeans from the same store, every time. He takes in the tag from his old pair and asks for another one. When styles change, it is a several week period of agony while he stresses about what style to get next. CHILL OUT WILL YA?!?

I guess I'm lucky, my DF may not have much of a sense of style, but I dont hate any of his clothes. He doesnt wear underwear (lol sorry if thats TMI ladies) and he's pretty good with self regulating his holey socks. I know he has some clothes that I love to see him wearing because he just looks so spunky in them, but theres nothing that I outright hate, or even really dislike.
Lol, he has a pair of trackpants that look pretty old and he wore them to work the other day and got asked if he was wearing his pjs. I cant really comment on the state of them as they used to be mine lol

Oh, the socks and undies thing DH is pretty good with the underwear, but he has a full size draw full of socks... because I buy new ones when the old ones are ridiculous, but he won't chuck them out, because they're still 'good'...
And on the socks note... we have huge issues with the regularity with which you wash them. As far as I'm concerned, you wear them once, you wash them. Specially when you've got big smelly man feet. He'd re-wear them for days (I don't let him. I had to draw a line somewhere!).
His clothes aren't bad, but they're pretty casual (mostly sporty-type stuff). We're both at a loose end there, he's like some smarter stuff, but we're both clueless about mens clothes and his all seems to be too casual or too formal (shirts and good pants) and I have no clue as to what to buy to get somewhere in that middle range

Hopes mine does that, with boxers too! I have caught him a couple of times wearing a pair of boxers inside out.. code for I wore them yesterday!!!!
I dont think there is anything I really hate... he sometimes wears things I think are inappropriate for the ocassion (usually he dresses casual when he really should have put on something a bit nicer) but he actually asks my opinion before he buys clothes and I always respond the same.. if you have to ask then you shouldnt get it!
He is actually a pretty good dresser, perhaps around the house but then neither am I, trackies or jammies around the house here for both of us.

And ewwwww on the multiday socks and undies Wrong in SO many ways.
I need to get DH some decent PJs. Both of us hate them but they're necessary during winter (and summer when we're at his parents place). His current ones are identical to my dad's. And Dad is 70.

he wears his trackpants that he wears to work into town as well when we go shopping...they have paint and builders glue and stuff all over them!!
so do his tshirts
i wish he would wear his nice jeans and stuff more often...
oh and there are two items that i really despise....one is a beanie that has those plaited tassels down the sides of the ears....and the other is a pair of BRIGHT YELLOW pants that are Wutang brand...they have a HUGE hole in the crotch of them...have hidden them in the wardrobe because DH will get very pissy at me if i throw them out. but they are soooo hideous! and he used to wear them all the time when we first started going out.

Lol - lilfatty!! If my DH had your DH's torso I'd feel the same....
When i met DH he used to wear light blue Warehouse jeans with a polo shirt tucked in and trainers.... he also had horrid Glow Weave shiny grey shirt and a blue version too. I do admit to accidently on purpose leaving a hot iron on one of the shirts too long and the other after much convincing got thrown out when we moved to Aus. After little traiing he is a fashion snob now - which I often regret.

My DH is a roughian - his pants always have holes in the knees from the work he does, he always ends up wearing his good jeans to work so he now actully doesn't own any good pants except the tweed suit pants that he insists on wearing when we go out
He is curently going through a stage of wearing mostly stubbies (shorts) as he can't wear the knees out lol. Thats ok except when he wants to team them with his long john polyprops!
He also have these red waterproof pants that use to be just for hunting, well since he won't go buy himself new pants he wore these out the other day to go visiting

i "accidentally" left some socks and underwear off the clothesline on a windy day so had to throw them out as the "clothesline" put some extra little holes thru all of them so they finally made the bin with his approval.
and with him being color blind he is banished from shopping for clothes on his own.
i get his jeans from savemart but i get him the new designer ones.
and me and his mum buy him new shirts and tee's. luckily we have the same tastes and he looks good in pretty much anything

DH lives in fancy shoes, jeans and shirts. If not shirts then he's wearing polo shirts. For work he wears polo shirts and canterbury shorts, underneath his work overalls.
Generally he's pretty styley, so I can't complain! Same as someone else, cos he's pretty much always in a shirt I always feel a bit under dressed next to him!
Although I don't like the fact he wears budgie smugglers... Tried getting him nice tight boxers and stuff but he just doesn't like them. Ah well, its not too bad!

I don't hate anything that my husband wears. He is way more fussy about clothes than I am! He buys expensive, but good quality (his favourite is Adidas) stuff, so it lasts forever and always looks good. Can't really complain but I nearly pass out when he spends $100 on a top (doesn't happen often though).
Me, I'm a real cheapskate when it comes to clothes. I think he is more likely to hate stuff that I wear. I know he hates my furry, rainbow-coloured, yeti-looking ugg boot slippers.

OMG does he have one? That wins the prize for the worst item in a mans wardrobe.

His tapered jeans. When he goes shopping for jeans without supervision he gets the same tapered levis jeans in the same blue and they just arent flattering. And then he insists on rolling the bottoms up around home and usually forgets when he puts shoes on so goes out with these ugly rolled up jeans |
OMG I could have written this exact scenario

Sadly this is actually me (the rolled up part). I finally decided to hem my jeans that are about 3 years old today and they actually look quite nice. Maybe I'll do my other ones tomorrow

Haha, unfortunately yes! His mate bought it for him for the 7s a few years ago, and I've caught him wearing it under his clothes a few time when he's going out at the moment I'm hiding it in my undie draw, doubt he'll go venturing in there looking for it

He is curently going through a stage of wearing mostly stubbies (shorts) as he can't wear the knees out lol. Thats ok except when he wants to team them with his long john polyprops!
And he always wear a swandry - no matter what! |
OMG sounds like our DP's would get along... my DP does team up the stubbies with the long johns and then goes to work *shudders*
Luckily we live on a farm so very few people see him like that!!

Hehe, mine too, but would I be really weird if I said I didn't hate it that much? DH only does it when he's going out up a cold river fishing, or tramping (in which case I'm doing it too so I can't complain!!)

Lol Hopes!
I actually don't like that he wears them to bed (not the same pair he wears to work obviously!) much more than him going to work in them.... he does the grandad thing and tucks his top in too.... SEEEXXXY... not!

DH has really good taste in clothes and takes pride in his appearance and all his work clothes are a great fit but ....

narrow it down to only one, thats hard. i guess i would go for his shirts in xl size he got before we were together, he is a small to medium. |
Mine's a definite medium but he often buys casual clothes way too big. His All Blacks jacket is huge on him and I'd love to replace it with one the right size.
