Subject: In support of OB
Date Posted: 20 July 2010 at 11:44am

Open letter to the lovely ladies that look after OB.

I love this forum have found it incredibly supportive and helpful over the years. I've been priviledged enough to even meet some of the other OB ladies who are all fabulous.

I also like the Magazine it has its niche and does provide an alternative to the mostly Aussie publications available, I have readily given copies to friends who have enjoyed it as much as I do.

I've also loved the openness of this forum where you can ask any question relating to TTC, pregnancy, child birth, parenting etc without feeling victimized or stupid.

There will always be naysayers, and individuals who spoil it for everyone else. Thankfully they seem to be in the minority and seem to give up on their personal campaigns pretty quickly.

Thanks ladies, long may OB continue.

*LIKE*

Lets bring the forum back to being helpful and not about critising and judging others and please can we stop taking things so personally and being so sensitive and misinterupting things cos this is supposed to be a helpful thread where we should feel comfortable asking a question and not be attacked for not asking it the right way.

If your in a negative argumentative mood (as we can all get in from time to time) why dont we just stay away from the forum at that moment or try to not jump to conclusions or on bandwagons etc

HAPPY POSITIVE COMMENTS

I'd have to say that the sniping and nasty comments on here of late are a little off putting to a semi regular poster. Come on ladies we are all adults.

Agreed!

I get really pissy with people putting the site down publicly because they've gotten their knickers in a twist about something insignificant. I think some of us forget that this site has a bajillion great things about it and maybe one or two not so great things.

I have stayed well away from those threads bagging you recently OB but have always been thinking 'GET OVER IT, you aren't entitled to anything even though you seem to think you are!'

Thank you to all the people that have made OB such an enjoyable, informative, safe and supportive place to be.

Love the site, don't really care about the fact that some posts were deleted, that's the way it goes.

Must admit that I find the drama kinda amusing though

same. Doesn't mean we're immature or anything.

And like bizzy said, it'll all go back to normal. But we have hiccups along the way too!

I only started this, cause I was getting disheartened by OB, then I realised it was one individual spoiling it and nothing to do with the rest of OB at all.

Hehe I'm keen to know who the 'one' is - me?

It'll get better again, but I think some recent attitudes may have turned a few off for a long time which is unfortunate. I still think out of most company-run forums, it's one of the better ones.

Not at all what AandCs mum said about things going in roundabouts, and cause this wasn't meant to be a 'I love OB' post more a realization by me, that it was my reaction to what was being said.

I'm guessing that it is being reported because of the mention of one poster only, in a not appealing light.

This was a lovely thread about OB...and then it became focussed on someone in particular, which completely diverts the focus of the thread, and makes it negative again...

jazzy i think we need to shift the focus....

so lets instead either go back to the original posters comment or not post at all!

It doesn't matter jazzy, the point of my post was to put the focus back on OB and not the small number of people who try to bring it down.

There has been a couple of threads over the last week with people having a go at OB, when its nothing to do with them (as in the people that run OB).

This is an open forum, IMO if you can't say want you want to say without resorting to PM's then maybe you shouldn't be sending them.

Do I have to start singing kumbya to bring back the love?

We are not allowed to post lyrics .. copyright etc etc etc ...

Although we seem to have had that rule breached already in this thread.

okay so..
here it is:

Copyright Act 1994 No 143 (as at 07 July 2010), Public Act
Part 3 Acts permitted in relation to copyright works

43A Transient reproduction of work
    *      A reproduction of a work does not infringe copyright in the work if the reproduction—

(a) is transient or incidental; and
(b) is an integral and essential part of a technological process for—
(i) making or receiving a communication that does not infringe copyright; or
(ii) enabling the lawful use of, or lawful dealing in, the work; and

Hehe, so we can sing now? Not that it made any difference to me, my singing is so bad I'm sure it would offend even over the internet

I'm an unashamed OB supporter - this is a great website, with great people. You'll get a few oddballs on any website (I'm not thining of anyone in particular when I say that) and OB has surprisingly few

Oh, and edited to add that now that I can reccomend baby-focussed websites without drawing weird looks (no-one knew we were trying) I reccommend this site to everyone, particularly anyone I know having fertility issues, because it was so much help to me then.

There is no copyright infringement to sharing a published recipe so long as you acknowledge the author.

Alison will not be after you or OB for sharing her crock pot chicken curry recipe
