DD has a bad cough which seems to be waking her up sometimes. She gets better for a little bit and then gets worse again.

I've been to the chemist and they don't sell any cough mixture for under two's, and didn't say anything else we could do apart from see the Dr.

I've spoken to the Dr about this when she has had it at other times but they say she is fine, no chest problems or anything.

Is there anything out there that might help her a little bit, even natural stuff.

I'm using vicks on her chest and back at the moment.

Thanks.

Put the baby vicks on the soles of her feet and put socks on

Cut up half an onion into a bowl sprinkle it with brown sugar and put it under the cot. Old wives tale but seemed to work for us although it could have coincidence that he was getting better...

DD has been the same lately, and the vicks on the feet worked well, plus having a heater on to just keep the chill out of the air.

Back when DD was little DH & I would always sneeze and cough when we were in her room and it turned out to be a blanket that someone had knitted for her out of a fluffy synthetic kind of stuff, as soon as I removed it from her room we both stopped (that sounds strange but it was almost instant) so as Bizzy said it could be something in the air.

Comvita now does a herbal range that would be fine for under 2's.

I used Kiwiherb organic herbak chest syrup with my boys. Its awesome. brought it while I was pregnant with number 2 as had a wicked cough and now use it with the boys as its awesome and legal for under 2's.

Oh thanks for that Peanut, where do I get that from???

I've put vicks on the feet for now, will see how that goes! :)

We always have a heater on in her room, and don't think there is anything there which would be causing the cough. We're a family which doesn't have many reactions/allergies and most things have been removed at some stage or another anyway but she's continued with cough.

I think it's just one of those ones she picked up from daycare and hangs around, gets better and then gets worse again.

the heater could be drying out the air int her room too much which wouldnt help with a cough.

Daniel had one of those, for a week we put the heater on and the crock pot with vicks in it, on low with a small gap with the lid on so steam could escape. He didn't cough while that was on, just waited until he never coughed during the day to decide when to stop. It does put water out in the air but you just need to air the room well during the day so it doesn't get damp.

Yep, was about to suggest a vaporiser which would do the same as kebakat suggested. We hired one from the pharmacy for my DS when he had croup last month. Seemed to work for him but you def need to air the room out the next day.

Second that it's awesome. Tastes nice too. I put it in my 11mth old's bottle and toddlers smoothie or juice

also garlic clove halved on sole of foot with sock on is supposed to be good, but never got around to it
