Hi guys, need some advice!
My 8 week old DS often goes down for a sleep between 4 and 5:30pm and if I leave him, he will sleep for around 4 hours. And then he would sleep in around 3-4 hour stints through the night.
My question is, should I wake him at around 6pm and try and make that his last feed of the evening??? Or.....should I just let him sleep and have the 8/9pm feed as the last for the evening?
In some respects I like the idea of having the same bed time every night but I also don't know if I like the idea of waking a sleeping baby.
Of course anything that would encourage longer sleeps would be awesome. I have however tried both methods and they don't seem to make much of a difference to his night sleep....

I think its whatever works for you - Our DD is now 11 weeks old and for the past several weeks has set her own bedtime for about 6:30/7pm. We often run into the late afternoon problem of depending on when she has woken from her last nap, she may not be able to last till that time before going to bed for the night. Once i left her to sleep (at 5:15pm) and she woke about 11pm for a feed, but then it was every 2-3 hours and really wanting to play. So now if she needs an extra cat nap as we call it, we let her, and wake her by 6pm. We then find by 7pm she's ready to go down for the night again, and actually sleeps well till morning.
(We do still have 1 wake up - sometimes 2, but its a quick feed and then back to sleep)
I also hate waking a sleeping baby btw.. but. well.. need to stay sane !

I use the eat/play/sleep routine and at that age fed DS 3 hourly so personally, I would have woken him after 3/3.5 hours for a feed. Mind you, I think I only had to wake him a handful of times as he wasn't the best day sleeper!
I always try to get DS into bed earlier rather than later. His usual bed time is 7pm so for eg now if he is starving at 6pm then I will bath, feed and get him to bed at 6pm rather than feeding him and keeping him up until his next feed (10pm) to do his night routine.
ETA - DS has lately been going down for a nap around 4.30/5 in the evenings and if he's not awake by 5.45/6ish I will wake him to get him up and back down for bed time at 7pm

Lily usually has a bath, well expects it by 6.30 and is usually *touch wood* down for the night by 7-7.30pm
She always wakes up by 5.30/6pm for it no matter what time I put her down, although if she is really tired she can sleep until 7-9pm depending. I generally let her sleep as no matter what I do she feeds 3 hourly day and night but is growing well so not complaining. However sometimes she will do a 5 hour stretch and then a 2 hour and then continue 3 hourly so tbh I would stick with what you are doing, but I don't see the harm in waking him up at 6, unless he was very tired when you put him down and it wasn't that long ago iygwim?!

i would personally wake him and try and get your bed time at whenever you want it to be, so 7pm or whatever. A long sleep in the afternoon will def lead to playful baby during the night as they get older.
3-4 hrs feeding over night in pretty normal for this age.
The other thing you could do is try a dreamfeed.
