DS has started being difficult going to sleep again. At the moment I am leaving him to roll all over his cot and figure he'll fall asleep when he's had enough.
I was wondering whether it's worth buying him a Safety Sleep at his age? He is not crawling, just rolling - but I was wondering whether they are good when babies are standing and walking? What age/stage don't they work? ------------- http://lilypie.com">

A friend of mine said she stopped using it once her DD worked out how to undo the velcro! She was 8months old. Another friend stopped using it when she was confident her DD could roll both ways and could right herslef if she wriggled over and slept on her tummy. She gave up trying to put her back on her back. I've used a safety sleep on Mac since he was about 3 months old. He started rolling from front to back then and also he wriggles his legs and pushes himself around the cot so safety sleep is the only way to keep him in place and under his blanket. I do find that I'm quite reliant on it though. If it needs to be washed all hell breaks loose! ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Amelia will be one next week and she still sleeps in hers (since she was about 5months), she has figured out how to wiggle her way out of it a few times but i make sure its nice and tight and she also sleeps in a sleep sack with the safety sleep across , works great , wouldnt be without it as i know for sure she would stand at her cot and throw things out and she would just refuse to goto sleep ( iv tried not putting her in it before ) , i dont really care if im reliant on it , shes still a baby and if it works then why try to change it ? ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Yeah at the moment DS rolls around and plays (somehow amuses himself) and doesn't sleep during the day. The only way to get him to sleep is to cuddle him in bed... but as you can imagine I am totally sick of doing that! I used to go in the room and put him back under his blankets but that's a waste of time. Right now his usually long afternoon nap looks like it won't be happening but I've just left him to it.
Another baby I looked after never had these issues. Even when he broke out of his blankets, he'd still fall asleep. Not Nathan! Doesn't help that he loves to roll all around the room so rolling around the cot is fun to him. I can't think of any other ideas for getting him off to sleep other than the Safety Sleep - unless others have other ideas? Especially if it only ends up being temporary. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

I started using the safety sleep at around 12 weeks when DS started breaking out of his wrap. I love it, but do agree with the comment about all hell breaking loose if it needs a wash!! DS manages to wiggle so his head hits the top of the cot and is not a happy boy at all. I hadnt really thought about when we would stop using it though? ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Newlywed- alot of my friends babies fall asleep anywhere and in any position , its hard when you see that , wish your own child could fall asleep so easily , i know the feeling . Amelia wont even sleep in her carseat or pram and hasent since she was just a few months old , she will only sleep in her cot or the cot at preschool , even that took alot of adjusting tho , I guess its very true - Every child is so , so different . ------------- http://lilypie.com">

I used a safety wedge with Keira in her bassinette when she could roll, then a safety sleep in her cot which I still use otherwise she won't go to sleep, she fight sleep to play. So I still rely on that to make her go to sleep, more so at night time. She can undo it but most times leaves it on thankfully.
She used to fall asleep in my arms but as soon as she could roll and crawl, she would randomly wake up and she was off haha. Not sure what else to do myself, haven't really tried anything else myself -------------

I used mine on Jake from about 9 months (he preferred being swaddled til then) til about uhhhm 6 months ago  I ended up taping him into it with duct tape LOL sounds awful doesn't it?!! He kept climbing out of bed to play then he'd turn into a little monster from sheer exhaustion so taping him in meant he couldn't do anything except sleep. We have 2 so I could alternate them through the wash no probs. Don't use it for Tyler as yet coz he still prefers being swaddled and sleeps perfectly happily in his wedge.

We used one for DS from about 4 months I think, he kept wriggling up and ended up with his head in the corner of the cot every morning. A friend gave it to us before he was born so I thought I'd give it a whirl and now I LOVE it!
We use it for all his sleeps now and over his wrap at night and it also stops him from kicking the blankets off which is great, especially in winter. Agreed re the washing, if I wash it it's dried the same day and back in his cot the same day!! ------------- http://lilypie.com">
