Floyd has wicked wicked nappy rash after being on some pretty strong anti b's which then gave him runny bum. The Dr has given us a steriod cream to use 3 times a day and I'm using cornflour in between.
Am I better to put him in cloth or disposibles? He is pooing up to 8 times a day and his bum is raw  we cant stop the anti b's as he was in hospital at the weekend with pneumonia  ------------- http://alterna-tickers.com">

Poor little man! I'd put him in top notch disposables as well.
And a bit off topic, but have you tried triple cream? A paed friend recommended it (you can get your pharmacist to mix it up for you, it contains vit a, zinc and something else) and it's supposed to be very good for bad nappy rash. We tried sudocream and bepanthan but they made no difference, the steriod cream is very mild and it does seem to be helping a little bit. Will go to the pharmacy today and ask about triple cream, thanks ------------- http://alterna-tickers.com">

I agree with Bizzy, not sure the type of nappy will help so much as opposed to making sure you change him as quick as possible after he's "gone". However a disposable might draw moisture away faster if he's asleep. It might get a bit messy if he's pooing alot, but no-nappy time will be good for him too. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Disposables will probably be better as you'll be going through heaps.
The steroid cream is interesting because my doctor told me she'd prescribe me one if Lily's eczema got worse but said that it can thin the skin... I was also told not to put powder on their bums too... I would probably give some nappy off time, use disposables and lots of zinc cream... But that's just me! Hope he feels better soon! It can't be nice!! Have you tried vaseline? You'll want to keep his bum dry, but just a little bit to stop it itching or anything... ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Sarah i had this a while ago with Angus. I was given the micreme by the doctor, which you can only use twice a day, but in between i put sudocream or bepanthen on and then vaseline over the top, just over a day and he was just about back to normal. At night i even put the micreme on and vaseline over the top. Stops the poos burning his bum. Might help. I dunno.

My boy got a yucky rash on his bottom and the back of his head a couple of weeks ago as a reaction to dairy. The doctor prescribed us micreme to be used twice daily for a max of 14 days. By about day 5 it was looking a lot better. I was putting bepanthan on inbetween the micreme applications and heaps of nappy off time, like 30-40mins inbetween each nappy change and was changing his nappy about every 2.5hours. Iniitally I used sposies, but they didn't seem to be helping the situation so once I got liners I was back to the cloth nappies. Ohh, and I also tried to get his bottom in the sunlight as much as I could too, this seemed to be the main factor that helped us -------------

I go with cloth and disposable liners for the rash, just because the cloth is so soft and snuggly, and the liners protect from all of the creams. -------------  http://lilypie.com"> |

Poor boy. We have suffered through this a lot (but not for a while thankfully). I'd definitely use disposables as they draw moisture away from the inflamed area. I'd go cloth personally. When Isla had nappy rash, we switched to using cloth fulltime and it cleared up so quick! It's always treasures nappies that make her rashy. Huggies ones are the only sposies I'd ever use. As far as creams go - i can't go past zinc/castor oil cream and Lucas Paw Paw oinment. They are both excellent  -------------
