Has anyone elses baby have a bad reaction to this like i did. Just tried it for the first time tonight and my girl bawled her eyes out and turned red! Up until now have been using organic ones and have used another johnsons one fine with no probs. What on earth is in it that she could be reacting to so i know to avoid it in the future!

It is filled with utter crap....avoid it like the plague.

Stick to what ever you have been using.

Lily has never had a reaction, but she developed eczema really bad and so now everytime we use it her eczema looks really bad - tbh it doesn't do anything imo.

ETA: Eczema was due to my eating too much bread in one hit...

I agree with Babe and AandCsmum. DD broke out in a rash that wouldn't go away for days!

Okay - can I threadjack?

What products do you guys recommend/like then? The only thing I've been using up until now is the Ecostore sleepytime bath solution but now days am feeling like I need to wash my girl a bit more thoroughly from time to time.

We only use ecostore stuff on DS (and ourselves) - the bath wash, or the baby soap. Actually, we just use the 'normal' ecostore soap on him. Seems to do the trick!

I use the baby aveeno range and it is great. DD has reacted to everything else we have tried including ecostore.

Have found its most likely the Sodium Lauryl Sulphate or Sodium Lareth Sulphate which is bad, its the foaming agent, which is corrosive (its used as a degreaser). Im sure the amount in it is very small and there are probably thousands of people who use it with no probs, but still I don't believe it should be in baby products!

I heard ecostore isn't a good brand to use sometimes as can still cause reactions etc.

I usually just use water now days!

Even heard using talcum powder is bad for a similar reason to what Kirstine said above.

I've always used weleda baby shampoo and body wash, and had no reactions on my girls sensitive skin.

Apparently only about 1 in 4 million people react to Sodium Lauryl Sulphate or Sodium Lareth Sulphate...but in saying that I prefer to go for products with ammonium lauryl sulphate in it (I need degreaser )

I usually use water or simple soap or put in Alpha keri oil.

Babies don't really get very dirty, they don't need all the fancy stuff.

Cooper got really bad eczema from it too, we use the ecostore goats milk soap now. Not sure what shampoo to use though as we got the ecostore one and his head has gone all dry and flakey.

The midwife at the hospital recommended olive oil and rolled oats in a muslin cloth and then swished in the bath water. I can never remember to buy the rolled oats to give this one a go.

Same here - we steer clear!

Hunter has had realy bad eczema, and we are now using sunlight soap which is the best thing we have found for his skin. In a week he went from having a raw, red face to the smoothest skin hes ever had

I always thought sunlight soap was for the laundry but its really mild, we even use in for his hair.

I use Only Organics, i think thats what it is, something like that anyway. SLS, paraben, ALS free, vegan safe (cracks me up, not like you intentionally eat it) and the packaging is made from corn and biodegrades. Plus its only $4-5 from pak n save/warehouse.

we use nothing except the occassional baby shampoo to get rid of the smell of the cream..babies dont need anything in their bath really...even Ethan only has the soap from his shampoo or soap a little bit...mind you both mine had excema and using stuff (at least for my kids) made it worse..

No, I haven't had a reaction like this. Your poor daughter! I've used Ecostore and another organic brand that I got an Countdown (that I can't remember the name of) and haven't had any probs with any of them. It might be that DS's skin isn't as sensitive as your DD's....

my kids haven't reacted to it at all and I love the smell of it.
For those who's kids don't react to it - following the routine I think is the key :) it's all baout routine and getting them sleepy than about the product ") but I still like it

We use the johnsons top to toe which is what they used to bath him in when he was first born and went to NICU.
I've also used the ecostore and had no problems.

Funny you mention about the bedtime johnsons one as I got a trial packet of it in something and used it the other day and his excema did flare up a bit and he looked kind of red when he came out of the bath. I thought maybe the water was just slightly too hot but maybe it was the bath stuff. Interesting....

Tried it on my boy too - excema for africa afterwards, have since moved on to aveeda (the oatmeal stuff) and that seems to be working much better. Johnsons is on my no go list for sure!

I used it for the first time last night (I only use soap in her bath 2-3 times a weeks, as I dont beleive it is a neccesity at her age...she is one)....No reaction, however she could not help but dunk her face into the bath and drink it. I had to get her out after a couple of minutes as she just kept trying to drink it So it must taste good!
