Inside our Simpson washing machine is pretty dirty and I want to clean it so I can sell it as we are moving to Aussie very shortly. It's mainly inside the agitator thingy that there is a build up. I recently put thru the washing soda that you get from the supermarket but that didn't make a difference.

A week before O was born I pulled our washing machine apart to clean it (nesting much?!?!) - I was able to unscrew the agitator and pull it out, then I just hosed and scrubbed it to get rid of soap scum. I scrubbed the inside of the machine too, I found that hot water alone did the trick...and elbow grease!

You can also fill with hot water and put in 1 cup of white vinegar and 1 cup of baking soda and let it soak overnight. Then continue the cycle in the morning. I did the same thing as Freckle it was part of my nesting lol!
I checked out the F&P website and others to see what they suggested and did a combination, filled the machine with hot water and vinegar and baking soda and let it sit for a few hours (was too impatient to wait overnight) then ran a rinse cycle, then I took the agitator out and scrubbed the rest away with a brush and the hose, letting it soak for awhile had softened all the soap scum so it was not too hard to get it off and I also wiped & scrubbed the inside of the machine (as best I could with a big belly!) and it came up like new. NB: most of the build up is caused by fabric softener or using phosphate free washing powder. ------------- http://alterna-tickers.com">
