Can anyone recommend any Taumarunui cafes with kiddy play area? We'll be there for a pitstop this week and weather doesn't look good for running around outside.

TIA

I don't think there is one. Everytime we have stopped there we have just gotten food from New World and then left and eaten in the car.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Yeah same, we usually stay at the camp ground. I think there is one right down the main road near New World, not the mini mart half way, near Paper Plus, but don't quote me on that as it's been a couple of years since I was last there!

Ok I am a local.

There isn't a cafe with a kiddies play area as such.

I like Ruddies Cafe which is on the main street by paperplus. They have couches in front of a fire and two bins of toys. They also have an outside area at the back which is nice when it isn't raining.

Down the one way street that has ANZ on the corner is Copper Kettle cafe. It is pretty big with a heap of seating and an extensive menu, and I think they have toys.

I haven't really been to any of the other cafes, but there are a heap as well as two bakeries and two chinese places. So if it is a nice day you could always get takeaways and go down to the Cherry Grove which is beside the river.    Or keep going out of town once you have your food and there is a nice little park over the second bridge.

Oh and if it is fairly nice there is a playground by the pools on Turaki St.

We've been to that one with the fireplace and boxes of toys with a load of kids and it was good. The staff attitude was kid friendly and our kids played with the toys happily. change table etc. Also had kids menu.
