What is your opinion on this style of education?
I saw it at the P&C show and had heard about it and thought it was interesting but dp apparently knows someone who went there that said it was "All a bunch off pot head hippies" so he won't even consider it...
I really liked the sound of it... "Steiner schools offer an inclusive, holistic, balanced education with a specific focus on... thinking including both sides of the brain, emotional literacy and the Arts, fostering engagement and effort (educating the will) achieving high standards and self mastery (realising capacities beyond key competencies), honouring the ToW through Tikanga Maori and Te Reo, Human values, social justice, ecology, and global consciousness, equal emphasis is given to traditional academic subjects as well as to music, the arts, languages, movement, crafts, sports and outdoor education..."
I am keen, but dp isn't.
So what is your experience or opinion?
ETA: No offence to anyone was meant by the 'Hippies' comment!
Sorry in advance if it offended anyone. (I was slightly offended when he said it!)

DH went to Steiner school in Lower Hutt it only went to year 7 back then.
Educationally he enjoyed it and did well academically.
It is however a very small school and as there is only one class for each year, you are with the same kids all the time.
You don't get to meet anyone new coming in and meeting new people isn't one of DH's strong points.
A lot of the parents that sent their kids there were I suppose 'hippies' wanting a different type of education for their children.
Its hard to decide as I spend my entire education in the Catholic school education system and DH found State school a bit of a waste. So my own experiences of public schools is limited.

Thanks for that!
DP went to a catholic school too and would like dd to go to the same one... I'm still open to options though and we have a wee while to go yet but just felt a bit bummed that he ruled it out so suddenly!
