With the whitcoulls 50 % off fiction, and a week on the beach next week, I need book suggestions.
I quite like the trashy chick lit, and easy to read stuff, but am also keen on something a bit more meaty. I'm not really into the fantasy/historical stuff. Any recommendations? |

Go in and have a look, The store I went to had a $3 table with trashy chick lit, I got 3 of them and for $3 who cares if you don't really like it. ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

Ooh, I don't know if they have it in the sale but... "I know this much is true" Wally Lamb but it was a good read! Lengthy, but a really good read!
Or you could read... "A suitable boy" Vikram Seth, it's also 1000+ pages... But a good read, it's about a girl in India who falls for the wrong guy sorta thing... | Cross stitch by Diana Gabaldon or Into the Wilderness by Sara Donati. Lovely historical/romance. They are both the first in a series and nice a big so you get a good read! |

I also go by authors, Paulina, Jodi, Marion. I got 1 Marion and 1 Jodi book last night. I am patiently waiting for my "bookstore" to arrive down from Hamilton. My friend used to work for Whitcoulls so has books for Africa that I am going to aquire once they are here. ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

I quite like Chick Lit also.
Susan Elizabeth Phillips Carly Phillips Jennifer Crusie Rachel Gibson Julie Garwood A good series to buy is The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons The Times Travellers Wife is a great read, also Nicholas Sparks has some good easy to read books Im not a big Marian Keyes fan anymore, i have read all her books but i went to re read one last week that i havent readfor years and they do take alot to kind of get into the story & drag on a bit They are some authors i like, also you can get them pretty cheap off TM -------------

MaryJanice Davidson Both very funny authors I love Lee Childs If you want to really get stuck into a good read, I'd recommend The Pillars of the Earth (over 900 pages) and World without End (over 1000 pages) by Ken Follett.. they are big books but the story is fantastic... and heartwarming. Embrace the Grim Reaper by Judy Clemens (not monsters in it) Just a really good story about a woman trying to change her life after a big tragedy. Also Book of Tomorrow by Cecelia Ahern... I loved this book, the main character is a 17yr old girl, but it's definitely written for adults.. another heartwarming story, and the characters definitely stick around in your head after you've read it. ------------- Mr Mellow (16) Miss Attitude (8) Destructa Kid (3)

Love chick lit, my fav authors are
Cecelia Ahern Sophie Kinsella I'm reading a really good book at the moment by Linwood Barclay called Fear The Worst which is a thriller about a guy who's daughter is staying with him for summer, doesn't come home one day. He goes to her workplace (a hotel) and no one has ever heard of her or recognises her pictures etc. so he is trying to find her. It's a fantastic book. I've just finished reading a book called Six Feet Down Under - Memoirs of a NZ Funeral Director. Sounds a bit morbid, but was one of the most interesting, good books I've read in ages. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

mummy_becks I'd heard it was fantastic too - thought I'd read the first chapter and see how it was. It was truly a fantastic read, I couldn't put it down! I also liked The Time Travelers Wife... but it is kind of fantasy. But probably not what you mean by that (eg Lord of the Rings type).... just a very unbelievable situation written so well that people just end up loving it.
I also like Jodi Picoult, but frustrated that all her books must end with a twist... they've all become a bit the same to me. Highlights of hers for me were My Sister's Keeper and The Pact. I like Anita Shreve too - The Pilot's Wife has been around a long time but is still one of my favourites. |

The millenium series, girl with the dragon tattoo, girl who played with fire, and I think its something to do with a hornets nest are good, (waiting for mum to finish the third but she says its good)
I can also vouch for Wally Lamb I know this much is true, and Ken Follett Pillars of the Earth and World without End. Oh seriously I could go on, ummm Shakespeare's secret JL Caroll is a good read about well Shakespeare and who he really is, full of murder and intrigue but so addictive. I'm reading Jeremy Clarckson atm lol but I just like to read.
