Hi everyone,

Arianne usually LOVES bath time, but in the past week she has just screamed when she gets in the bath.

I use to say to her "Bath Time" and she would walk to the cupboard get a face cloth and towel then head to the bath room, now she just says "No"

Could it be because of winter and she is cold or is it just a phase they go through??

Hi our wee boy (similar age) just went through this too and we were at a complete loss to know what the problem was. It turned out to be because he had nappy rash. We knew he had nappy rash but (stupidly) we hadn't realized how much the warm water made it sting. He went from loving his bath to screaming in it and avoiding getting in. Once we realized we covered the rash with vaseline before he got in the bath until it healed. And once it was healed he went back to loving bath time.

If it's not nappy rash... i have heard that getting in the bath with them can help them overcome bath fears.

Good luck!

We went through a similar phase with Emiy when she was about that age. We still have no idea why she suddenly hated bathtime. But after a couple of months the phase passed and suddenly she was enjoying her baths again. Then it was the hairwashing that went pearshaped But again it was a phase that soon passed.

Does she like drawing? We have some of those crayon things that are for the bath (they rub off) and Daniel has never moved so fast to have a bath or shower cause he gets his special pens.

Yes she does like drawing. I have seen those pens and thought about getting them.

Tonight was a disaster, tried having a shower with her and she just screamed the bathroom down.

Tomorrow I will try having a bath with her. Just really hate having my bath at 6.30.

Some nights Caden randomly hates his shower, he usually has one with me or DH. Mostly though he packs a wobbly when he has to get out lol. when DH comes in to get him he hides behind me screaming
We are getting him some of those bath crayons Kebakat mentioned as well, you could try those Nat.

Other than the crayons and bathing with her you could try a "surprise" in the bath each night, Jack loves surprises. It is usually either dishwashing liq for bubbles or a bit of food colouring in the water, tonight it was yellow, yesterday's colour was red. You could try those as well

Yah thats good. i dont know why she would have gone off it, maybe one time something scared her like the plug or something & it put her off.

I cant keep Taylah out of the bath, she bangs on the bathroom door after dinner every night saying bath

DS went through a phase at about 9 months old where he would scream whenever we put him in the bath. I googled it found that at his age, babies are making connections between hurting themselves and dangerous situations. So I think he was "Ooh, it's a bit slippery in here... I could fall....." type thing IYGWIM. Something to do with developmental milestones as well.....

He's fine now but he knows his limits in the bath and knows where and how he can stand up - if he should want to.

I never empty the bath with her in there, I wait till she goes to bed, even I hate that noise.

It was a real mystery, but she is back to loving it again.
