How long did it take after coming off the pill for AF to return?
I've been off now for a few months and nothing! Even when I was on the pill AF only visited for a couple of days a month.
Should I be worried?

Sparkle, it took ages for my AF to come back after coming off the pill. In fact I have now been off over 2 years and it still is far from normal. I did go to the doctor and check things out though - he sent me for a scan to check that I didn't have PCOS and stuff. So if it has been a few months then I would just go get things checked too.
Your AF when you were on the pill is not related as it is not a real AF - the main reason for having the sugar pill break is for mental assurance, many woman stress if they don't have a regular cycle. However the cycle isn't 'real' - if you know what I mean!

AF turned up for me the usual three days after stopping the pill and has been 'fairly' regular since as well.

I was on the Depo injection, and AF didn't come back for almost 14 months ! So I guess it depends maybe on what type of pill you are on, but I'd say it's pretty common for it to take a while.

i was on a low dose pill for six months before coming off (having been on a normal one for about four years prior) and got period right on time once I came off. Then seven months later we were pg.

Well thanks for sharing. It's now 10 weeks since coming off the pill. I'm hoping it's just my body getting used to things again. Not planning on trying till at least October, and I'm planning a doctors visit before then, so if it hasnt' come I guess I'll be asking them!

I think also sparkle it will depend on how long you have been on the pill as well, I imagine if you have been on it for some time it will take longer. mine took around 6-7 weeks

Sparkle, if you are planning on trying in OCtober, I would reccomend you visit sooner rather than later. We are looking at late October/early November depending on cycle to start TTC, I went for my visit last week. It is good to get the info you need and peace of mind goes a looooong way.
I had a number of blood tests done and got good results -yay! They lloked at iron, liver, kidnet etc to see if I needed to bring any levels up before trying. They also looked at my hormones and there was a possibility of ovulation. I am happy with that as I hadn't timed it to my cycle so it was really late and the hormones would have been on their way down. The good thing is that my rubella levels are high enough that I don't need to be reimmunised (which could have delayed ttc time).

Hi Sparkle,
Were you getting your period while you were on the pill? Maybe if you werent having a "pill free week" it may take a bit longer.

Oops sorry should have read your post a bit better BEFORE asking dumb questions. Also if it was a stronger pill, it may take a while for your natural hormones to get back to normal.
I agree with miss, it wouldnt hurt to get checked out at the doctors. It will put your mind at ease at the least.
