My mum is looking at extending some of the bedrooms in our family house.
She was wondering if anyone had recently extended rooms, either with their own DIY work or by a builder and if so, roughly how much it was per square meter that was added iygwim?
When I was in college and did graphics the teacher told us the general thumb of rule was $1000 per sq/m. Is this still the case?
Thanks in advance.

We recently looked at adding a second story to our house.
The couple of quotes we got were for $800-$1000 per sqm. That included everything, except carpet.
Pays to shop around

Just make sure you get a few quotes then play each company/builder off against each other to get the best deal. Some building companies are really struggling for work at the mo so will drop their prices and take a hit in their margins to get work.

We have just extended our house and I would hate to see how much it has cost us per m2 , but then it did included a rather large kitchen. DH has done it all himself.
Before we started I asked around and was told $1200-1500 per m2 but then I would think it largely depends what you are adding on, bathrooms and kitchens are alot more expensive than bedrooms

Mum is just thinking of doing 3 bedrooms and possibly turning the downstairs toilet into an en-suite bathroom for one of the bedrooms (bedrooms are on the ground floor, lounge/kitchen/bathroom/dining is on top).
