I have brought woollen singlets for this new baby and also have some for my toddler however I was recently told that you have to put a cotten singlet under a wool one.
Is this right?? What do you think/do?

I guess it depends if it irritates their skin or not... With Lily it is fine, we washed them before putting them on.
When I was a baby I wore woolen singlets and had no problems.
Hope that helps...
ETA: I am talking about soft wool, merino, etc. Not the rough wool.

I wouldn't put wool next to skin unless is was fine and soft like merino.

I always put wool next to the skin, but it's only the baby soft stuff. Ie merino tops I've made or those little woolens you get from places like Baby factory.

I always put cotton first and then wool, unless it was merino and then it went straight on the skin.

We put the wool singlet over his cotton bodysuit (you know the type with the poppers at the crutch). It worked really well. We used long sleeved bodysuits too during winter.

Yeah I never put wool directly on his skin unless its Merino and super soft either. I remember as kids wool would always irritate our skin

I never thought of this! I always put it straight onto her skin! It didn't appear to irritate her skin. I've only had to put a wooley singlet on her a few times tho cause she is a very warm baby. Will know to put a cotton singlet underneath from now on!
