I keep having dreams about going into labour/waters breaking in wierd/awkward/public places (mall/petrol station/swimming pool etc)
Has anyone gone into labour somewhere 'different'? All of my friends seem to have started when they were at home/in bed etc - surely not everyone is that lucky?

hehe , with C I was at home , playing barbies with my sister
with Ty , I was in the car, had just been to the mw who told me we would book an induction , got into the car and the "oh f*ck , now I remember " contractions started , we were still able to go and have lunch with his parents , then go home and watch movies before I needed to go to the maternity unit tho
At my friends funeral, one of her other friends went into labor, kept it to herself tho cos she didn't want the spotlight to be taken off my friend ...

My waters broke while I was in bed asleep. Very boring!
But I know what you mean about the dreams leading up to it all though. I had all sorts of weird dreams about going into labour and not being able to find DH or my friend going into labour and I had to carry her to the hospital
Oh and the "best" one - I didn't show up at work coz I was in labour but I was more worried about work than the baby

He he..my waters broke spectacularly when I was having dinner at DH's bosses house!! Halfway through the main course, and a gigantic whoosh all over their fancy dining room chair & the floor . DH & his boss both started running around, all flustered, I went to the bathroom, took off my jeans (which I'd been wearing under a dresss anyhow), came back with a towel shoved between my legs & insisted that I really needed to eat dessert & the baby wasn't likely to come in the next ten minutes .
That all happened at 8pm, it turned out we didn't get to meet DS until 5pm the next day, so plenty of time to eat my lemon meringue pie!

My contractions started at while I was at work. Waters broke while I was pushing (4 days later!!). My mum's waters broke when pg with my sister, at the Easter Show!! Dad and their friends formed a circle around her so she could walk to the car without anyone seeing her wet pants

haha. that is hilarious about being at your bosses place. im really paranoid of the same thing because with #1 i stayed at uni till i was 7 days OD and i was always freaked out my waters would break in a giant lecture theatre or in one of my science labs, im still at uni but am leaving on my due date this time but still paranoid
back to the origional question though. i was induced with gel which didnt do a hell of a lot, then my waters broke that night sitting on my hospital bed and next morning he was born

I was boring as well. Contractions started at home at 7pm, waters started leaking at the hospital at about 8am the next day, and then the MW broke them some hours later.

Went into labour at 2am so was in bed at home. Midwife broke my waters at the hospital many, many hours later.
I had recurring dreams all throughout pregnancy however, that my waters were guna break with a huge gush in the middle of pak n save! Thank goodness that didn't happen cause I had an abnormally large amount of fluid come out when MW broke waters! lol That could have been embarrassing!

#1 - I noticed a show at home when I woke up. Contractions started at work at 9:30am and I was escorted from the building at 12pm.
#2 - I had a show at 3am and contractions started at 4am so I was in bed. I was also 4 days overdue and my mw had done an internal the day before and found I was already 4cms dilated and 50% effaced so we didn't stray too far from home knowing that baby would probably make his appearance soon.

Number 1 and 2 I had my waters broken by midwife. Number 3 she went to break and swears they broke on their own which mw was pleased with as it didn't break her record. Me on the other hand think she hooked them and broke them without realising it as the other two never broke on their own. iygwim. So very boring and predictable.
As for dreams I had the same recurring dream that I was giving birth to tarzan swinging thru the trees with me running below saying I'm not monkey and can't swing can you please come down. I think it is cause my DH as a child looked very monkey ish with a crew cut and sticky out ears. It freaked me. Turns out I have beautiful non-monkey children who are fine with walking rather than swinging thru the trees lol.

Mines boring too, broken at hospital.
A lady I know was going to her coffee group and when she got out the car they broke (leaking rather than gushing) she still went in for her coffee with the gals and called her partner who ended up coming and picking her up even though she told him not to. From memory bubs came pretty quick too so was lucky he did!

Pretty boring here too. Went for Bowen as I was 8 days overdue and ready to try anything. Started feel uncomfy there. Got home and the discomfort turned into 2 minute apart contractions. Waters broke in bath at the hospital approx 4 hrs later.

Yes i was very boring too , Waters broke at home when i got up out of bed to turn the light off . Altho they did happen to break at midnight on the dot (literally on the dot ) of my due date which was quite random . had Amelia at 1.25pm in the afternoon the next day so for a first bubz it wasnt a hugely long labour .

Hey how do you know if they break in the bath. I am genuinely curious. Do you still feel it? Since there wouldn't be much of a visual thing.

She was born 4:27pm later that day

Ha ha, awesome modelling session, Brenna .
Kiwi2 - just before mine went, I felt a weird pop in my belly! I don't know that anyone else could hear it, but I sure did...Wish I'd known to stand up & move when I heard/felt it so I didn't wreck the bosses flash kitchen chair though

Hi - I'm the one who's waters broke in the bath. I think the plug must have gone with it because there were little bits of stuff floating around, nothing gross though. I felt a release of pressure and a slight popping feeling. Hard to explain - I was on the gas pretty hard by then!

Is it possible to hold on to your waters.....??
I was totally busting to go to the toilet driving to the hospital, it was so uncomfortable. As soon as I got to the toilet and sat down let go and there went my waters.
Second time I was in bed although didn't realise for a few minutes. I somehow managed to make it to the bathroom before it all came gushing out.
Nothing exciting though, I was far too nervous to tempt it. My waters never broke until just before transition both times.

had first contraction and waters break at home in bed with Bailey - delivered him 3 1/2 hours later
contractions at home then waters poped when pushing Aidan - in hospital born within minutes of waters breaking (10 hour labour with meds trying to stop it since he was so prem)
well apart from the 3 preterm labour scares I had on the day I no prior contractions, they broke my waters and she was born within the hour

DS1 was 2 weeks late & I went in to labour at home at 12.30am on the day I was to be induced. We went to the hospital at 9.30am with me in the back seat hanging over the front seat timing my contractions, half way there my waters broke & DH was able to pull over so I could get out...so there is a tree by the road where I stood & every now & then when out that way we would past it & laugh about that morning.
I was in hospital with DS2 a few weeks before he was born & he was delivered early & they broke them while I was in delivery & it was a real gush.
I don't recall with DS3 but I was in hospital for an induction that turned into an emergency c/sect

i had just decided to finally go to bed at midnight on saturday night after staying up watching movies (was a week before due date) lay down got comfortable, well as comfortable as you can get at 39 weeks pregnant, and got the worst cramps which turned into horrible contractions, so called my mum who luckily is a midwife and went to the hospital had DS 6 hours later, but waters didnt break until just before he came out, my midwife was acutally just about to break them but they broke on their own, a huge gush!
