Lou PM Bex, I think here DF used to work for them.

I know of someone who got them for $3 & did not need a Dr but is was through a work place.

Yay you will have more money to spend

My bro rang quitline this week- yes they give u them for free but he has to wait over a week, and hes already been going cold turkey since Sun so he reakons by the time they arrive he might not need them.
He went to the chemist first, but he needed a presciption from a Dr, and he didnt wanna pay to see the Dr.

There are patches, gum (fruit and mint flavoured) and lozenges that are subsidised via a 'quit card'. They cost $3 per item for a months supply. You can get a quit card from quitline, your doctor, a midwife etc. Quitline has to post the quit card to you so it takes around a week. You can register to get them sent online as well as by phone. Some hospitals and public health providers run quit clinics where they can provide quit cards and support.

Alternatively you can always buy a weeks worth of patches from a pharmacy while you wait for quitline to send you a quit card. They are around $25 for a packet of 7. Quite expensive but cheap compared to the amount saved by not smoking!

Dh and I did hypnosis after many failed attempts with patches and since then have been completely smoke free. Havent touched a ciggy for 2 years

But I hear it doesnt always work so I guess you have to find a good Dr that knows what their doing...

I used the gum, and I've been smokefree for 10 months and counting.

I've successfully given up cold turkey and with patches (on different occasions).  The last time I gave up I read Allen Carr's book which was excellent.  I've been smokefree for nearly 2 1/2 years.
