Does anyone know a good pattern for making one of these for bubs? I figured that since I am handy with a sewing machine and have some merino, I should give it a try but don't have a good pattern...only have gowns which if I was clever I could alter...but usually I am not that smart haha.

Starting to get cold over here....last night was 20 degrees....brrr hehehehe.

Someone said it got down to negative 3 here last night!! Haven't seen any weather reports- so not sure to believe that or not.

Oh, I'd LOVE 20 degrees!!

Are you any good with sewing on a zip? You could just make a gown (without sleeves) then sew a zip along the bottom to close it off when he is asleep, and to make nappy changing easier.

Nats I traced around a singlet then extended it right down to make the bottom part. You need to do either 2 layers of merino or a layer of merino and a layer of cotton for both the back and the front. I don't have a scanner or I'd put my 'pattern' (haha hmmm... might be abit of an ambitious name for it...) up for you!

I was wondering if need to have some jersey cotton for outer layer?

Have a pattern for a gown so maybe can try adjusting that lol.....

Yep, freezing here huh...so looking forward to the dry season and it being cooler..

If it helps, i have two sleep suits. both are sleeveless so I put Jesse in a long sleeve body suit

The outer is made of cotton and the inner is 100% polyester in one sack and 100% polyester and 100% merino in the other one. No idea if that helps. oh and one has a zip down the side the other a zip up the front but the join part is at the top and zips downwards

Not a hard pattern to copy, just getting the right material to make it warm i suppose
