DD (9months) has had 'loose bowel' movements for almost 2 months. She has had two lots of tests to check them and they have come back all clear.
It started when she had 5 teeth come through, but like I say that was almost 2 months ago. They stink and are messy. They often leak. I have said goodbye to cloth nappies as they just cant handle them. I am going back to the dr. on friday to have a check up again, the receptionist suggested it may be a dietry related thing. SHe is happy and healthy, 600mls formlula a day and a sip here and there of water. I'm wanting to know if anyone else has had this problem. OR what sorts of things in her diet could make her have diarreha? The only thing I can think of is dried apricots....but they are given very rarely now. Any suggestions would be great! |

Sounds gross but can you "see" anything that looks like it's come straight through? Can you pick what you have introduced in that time? Dairy ie move from BF to bottle, wheat etc etc.
It really could be anything, does she have skins issues as well? For us it's dairy that gives poohs like that. Fruits & vegetable to a lessor extent. ------------- Kel http://lilypie.com">

Yup dairy does that here too.. though he can tolerate me eating dairy now and small amounts in cooking oh and we had success with low lactose easy yo yoghurt woohoo! -------------

She stopped having her one a day breastfeed about 2 months ago- surely that wouldnt be it though as she was already pertty much fully FF.
She probably started having more cheese about 2 months ago...before then she struggled gettin git in her mouth, but has since beocme a pro. I often see brocoli, capsican and carrots in her poop when she has it. Occasionly I see seeds form bread, but she is having more white bread at mo. Can't think of what else changed 2 motnhs a go. I will continue as normal till Friday when we see the dr and see what they can suggest. She isnt in pain or uncomfortable in any way...I just cant stand the nappies anymore. |

Floyd was going up to 15 times a day at one stage, test came back all clear etc. I tried cutting out dairy, (other than his formula) this helped slighty but not a huge difference. We also tried a few days of very bland food, bananas, white bread, rice etc to firm things up, it helped but once we went back to normal food it started again. In the end I put him on a low lactose formula after speaking to health line and ringing the 0800 on the back of the formula tin who both suggested it could be a lactose thing. We have now reintroduced his old formula, cheese, yoghurt etc and his poos are back to normal. For unrelated reason we were under a specialist at Starship, he said that if a child continues to have 'runny bum' as I call it they cam develope a temporary lactose intolerance, basically their little bodies just need a break for the natural flora etc to get back to normal if that makes sense. We did try a 'bland' diet abot a month ago. Stewed apples, bananas, potato etc for 2 days. She didn't go for one day, but then she was back to normal.
WIht this intolerence to dairy, is it usually something that mught run in the family or just random? There are no allergies or food intolerances on either side, oh and no skin issues either. I look forward to hearng what the dr thinks, might do some reserch of my own beofre then. |

Floyd's was just a temporary thing. He is totally back to normal now, (goes 1-3 times a day) We used the low lactose formula and cut out dairy for about 3 weeks then slowly reintroduced it. ------------- http://alterna-tickers.com">

Jakes is temporary thing but like Floyd it is lactose rather than dairy.... Jake can handle small amounts of lactose but if he has too much his poo is like nb bf poo all over again....
Jakes was caused from a virus just after his first lot of jabs and he has battled with it ever since...but he is getting better slowly. It could be something else entirely but if you have been increasing the amount of dairy in bubs diet recently and bubs has been unwell then it could be that. -------------

My Jake can't do lactose either. He had the runs for 9 out of the 12 months last year and it finally came to light that daycare was giving him dairy on the one day he was there 
Is there any mucous in her naps?? -------------

There have been maybe 2-3 more mucosy ones (out of the whole 2 months), and that was around the time teeth were coming through.
