Wee man has some hideous nappy rash. I was using Bepanthen on it and some days it would look really look like it was almost gone and then by the next nappy change it had come back with a vengence. This morning it looked really angry though.  So I went and got some Lucas Papaw cream (someone on here recommended it to me) and I just want to know how I should apply it? Sparingly? Generously? My guy has nasty teething nappy rash at the mo and we're alternating between bepanthan and lucas pawpaw. I re-apply a decent amount regularly to keep a good barrier between his skin and poo or wee.
It's a bit cold out but can you give him some nappy-off time too? Hope your wee man heals up soon. Not nice. -------------

I've been trying to give him at least 5 mins of no-nappy time at each change. That usually means I get peed on but I can deal with that. I'll use just the lucas papaw until I see an improvement then start alternating between that and bepanthen once it gets better. The rash is only on his front (above his bits) and his groin area. Nothing on his bum. He's a tummy sleeper though so that could be why. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Its not nice aye. Teyla has nappy rash for the first time - I can only assume its cause I used disposables more than usual while we were away over the weekend - I did use my reusables as much as possible, but washing/drying wasn't that easy .... she's never had it before and I've never used disposables more than one or two a week, so I won't be using them again in a hurry!
Her rash is more dry than angry though, I wonder if its cause the disposable sucks away so much moisture? I have a Eco store nappy rash cream that seems to be doing the trick. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

MOS - Mac's nappy rash started when we were away for Easter Weekend and it's just gotten progressively worse despite putting cream on it daily. Mac's rash is pretty dry, just looks angry. Like red and a bit puffy. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Try Sudocream, I am trialling it at the moment. It is more of a thicker consistency than the other creams which are more "moist" if you know what I mean. Creates a better barrier I think, so the rash has time to heal. I also do lots of nappy off time.
Plunket said to me that part of the problem could be my diet which is acidic, and it is burning as he poos :-( |

Could be thrush. Amelia had an angry red rash (no while heads though) and the plunket nurse said thrush. I used Canestan on it and after a day or 2 it went away. When she gets a bit of a rash I try the Canestan first now.
We also use Zinc and Castor Oil ointment at every nappy change. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Zinc & Castor Oil is a barrier cream, so it will prevent nappy rash but not heal it. I'm wondering whether paw paw heals but isn't much of a barrier when it comes to pooey nappies? ------------- http://lilypie.com">

For Esme's rashes I'll put ecostore cream on then sudo over top once it's soaked in for a bit so that she gets a barrier as well as something healing. If it's persistant we have to use hydrocortizone or it will crack and bleed which is not very nice for her. ------------- http://lilypie.com">  http://lilypie.com">

You probably already are but steer clear of chemicals so use just water and cloth for wipes try not to put anything in his bath for abit as all that sort of thing aggravates. Yup, we've been using cloth and water instead of wipes since he was about 10 days old. Bonus to that is you tend to get pee'd on way less as well  Nappy rash basically gone. Enter new rash...all over body...apparently the new washing powder. Will have to splash out on some EcoStore stuff or something like that. With all three of my babies I found the best thing to get rid of nappy rash was either curash or plain old cornflour unless it was thrush. -------------
