Would love to hear from people who have had bad tears from giving birth.

When were things back to normal again? Eg sitting comfortably, going to the loo, riding a bike...(or your partner ) How long is normal?

It's been 18 months since the birth and 11 months since a minor surgery to help fix things, and things still aren't right...which makes TTC for #2 impossible at the moment!

Is there anyone else out there who took awhile to heal? Did it get better in the end?

No advice unfortunately - I had tears with both of my sons but although they both required stitches - I was fine about 3 weeks later.... but didn't want to read and run.

Hope you find some solutions for yourself soon though

Oh 18 months is a long time! Here I am 10 weeks down the track and things are definatley not normal and Im not sure if I should be seeing someone about it now or wait a while.

I had a 2nd degree tear and needed stitches, some of which came apart leaving a few rather tender patches. The scar tissue is also really sensitive and hard

I was cut and had internal and external stitches, my MW told me I wasn't allowed "back on the bike" until she'd checked me over at my 6 week check. There was still a lot of scar tissue but she said s*x was the best thing to help with that. It was blimmin uncomfortable the first few times but definately got better and now things feel totally normal again

One of the girls in my coffee group had stiches from being cut and things still aren't back to normal so is being referred to a specialist and may need to be re-cut.

I would suggest getting it checked out again JIC

Hi! I gave birth 7 weeks ago and had some stitches for a tear I got, although I only got a couple of stitches there is scar tissue which has grown over some of the stitches that didn't get to dissolve properly which makes sex rather painful. Like hope2be it was uncomfortable and for me rather painful but after a couple of tries and lots and lots of vaseline (sp?) things are definitely feeling better (in terms of sex I mean)!

The doctor said it may take about 2 months for the stitches to finish dissolving but she said if not to come back and she'd see what she could do. She did say moisture and some lube would help heal it faster.

As for going loo I had no problems there from the start! Although the first time I went pee was scary and the same when I went poo but it was absolutely fine.

A friend of mine had problems in this department and was looking at surgery..she then got a 2nd opinion and is now on some sort of medication which densensitizes the nerves 'down there' and she says it is the wonder drug! maybe worth looking in to. Sorry, dont know what it is called though

Thanks for your messages everyone!
Someone else sent me a PM about some creams that have helped...might look into them too.

Hmmmm the hard, scar bits don't sound good. Maybe you should get someone to look at it? Might be a case of the sooner you get to it, the better it feels. That's how it feels like for me anyway- wish I had done something sooner!
