I know there has probably been a few threads on this before but i think it will be easier to just ask specifically cos im being confused by different info from different people.
Ok so Im preg with #2 due Aug DP works full time i dont work we get WFF from IRD and have just applied for Acc Suppliment and Daycare Subsidy from WINZ.
Obviously i wont get paid parental leave this time as im not working but is there something i am entitled to? How much and who and when do i need to contact for this? Then once i get the new babies birth cert i assume i contact WFF and get that changed.
Also from what i gather DP is only entitled to 2 weeks off but we have been told different thing regarding this. DP is under the impression it is paid up to a certain amount but as far as i can see this is unpaid.
Thanks to anyone who can help clear this up for me

You can get a family tax credit which is around $1000. Also sign up to IRD website & as soon as you have your girl, put her on there. I was on bulk at that point so had IRD number by the end of the financial year.
If you look up the family Tax credit there should be forms on there to fill in.

DP's leave is unpaid unfortunately.
Ring the IRD as soon as baby is born and notify them - they will start the payments immediately. You're entitled to the parental tax credit I think it is, $1200 (income tested but your DP should be under it I think). They just require you to get the birth cert sorted and IRD number applied for within 8 weeks.

Cheers thats pretty much what i had come to the conclusion we would be getting.
It says something about Parental Tax Credit being affected by any income tested benefits does that relate to the Acc Suppliment ive just applied for?

Hmm not sure about that one as we don't qualify - just give Winz a call. I wouldnt' class it as a benefit - benefits to me are sickness, DPB etc.

We got the Parental Tax Credit and DH earns quite a high salary its $1200 paid outover eight weeks. b The Acc supplement shouldn't affect it. Your best bet is to give the IRD a call.
Re your DP's leave. Its unpaid but if his boss is nice and he has AL owing he may be able to use that.
Def make sure you ring them straight away, Ds was born on a Thursday night and I calle dthem Friday, Thursday is their cutoff so we had to wait an extra two weeks
