Just a completely random question out of curiousity.
For those of you that have expressed/are expressing: What is the most you've ever gotten in one sitting?
Mine is 250ml

I express off a of midday feed twice a week (when DS is with the nanny) and usually get an average of 140ml from each side - so 280-300ml.
I can get about 200ml per side first thing in the morning though...

Mooooo! Lucky ladies! I'm on domperidone to keep up milk supply and was super impressed with my 250! Used to only get about 50-80 total from both sides combined.

I have a pretty good supply but I can only get about 60mls, total, from both sides in one sitting.
Over the space of a day, I can get maybe 100mls.
Luckily I don't have to express too often.
Does it improve if you express more?

I've only just started to express regualarly but if I express off one side while Esme is feeding I can get up to 120mL. If she's not feeding I'm lucky to get 50mL. I am hoping this will improve as I express more often!

I've been able to get 270ml total after a feed. But if he hasn't fed and I'm expressing for a dreamfeed then I can get up to 420ml. That was the most I have ever got and I had to switch bottles!

That's slightly above normal output; average is 10-30ml from both breasts per session....anything else is classed as "abnormal". When I started pumping I was getting around 1-50ml on average but by the time I had been pumping at the same times everyday I could get 90ml off one side at a time but never more than that.
The most I got in one sitting was 250ml....unfortunately had to pour the whole lot down the drain. I was away from DS2 at the time overnight and only had one small bottle with me and the pump, had to dump the first lot to express off some more. Over the course of the 18ish hours we were away I had to dump almost 400ml worth of milk!

When I was expressing full time for my twins, and not expressing overnight anymore, I was able to get nearly 1000mls...yip a litre!!! I was huge and sore for a good 7-10 days and getting huge amounts off each morning before it started slowing down...then it dropped dramatically :o(

atm Im expressing for 5 mins each side and get anywhere from 50mls to 150ml each side, am going to go up to 10 minutes a side soon though and maybe do it more then once a day! Id love to have a decent supply in the freezer in case hubby or my mum needs to feed bubs and for when I stop feeding
how long does everyone express for? when I was pumping for aidan (preemie) we were told do 5 minutes each side then repeat so basically 10 minutes a side

Ah this brings back fond memories of expressing colostrum into a syringe in hospital. It was a proud day when I had to ask the midwife for a 10ml syringe
Most I ever got was 600mls.
Tastic, I was told to express until the milk stopped and then for an extra few mins to stimulate more milk. (This was when I was expressing after feeds to increase me milk supply)

hehe Hope2Be, that reminds me of our wedding (DD was 3wks) - my mother and sister walked in on me in the bathroom with my knockers out hand expressing into the sink, I had crap aim though cause more seemed to end up on the mirror than down the drain!
I can't get much these days, but early days I suppose about 200mls.

When I was expressing for a friend and feeding my son I was able to express off 400ml at a time for my morning express. In total over the day I was expressing about a 1litre and then feeding my son too. But that was only for a short time.

I think when I was in the hospital I was told 10 minutes as well but that was when the girls still had NG tubes in and I was super engorged. When we were at home I was only expressing 1 - 2 times a day. One was to replace a feed (EBM dream feed) so I expressed it all off. Don't see the point in timing expressing in that scenario as I never timed a BF IYKWIM.

I think I averaged between 150 - 200mls a feed (I was expressing twice a day at work). I don't think I ever timed it I just kept going until no more milk came out
And WOW at some of the amounts you ladies have got - a litre!?!

My supply was disgusting - it just didn't stop. No kidding, I didn't even start to feel comfortable until I'd expressed 200ml from each side and I would get that amount in 10mins each side The most I ever expressed before stopping (because it would've just kept going) was 300mls per side. I could do this any time of day, my supply did not drop back at night.
Many, especially those who have trouble building their supply up, would think I was lucky but it was awful. Just as bad as not having enough, it caused so many problems.

Hehe babyg I was reading that thinking I wish I could do that but maybe you're right, that could cause issues.
The most I have ever got is 8ml off both sides in the morning, that was expressing until there was nothing left to express. Usually though I get maybe 2mls after a feed. I was REALLY happy with 8

Wow - opposite ends of the scale huh Jelly?
Yeah, oversupply can be just as bad as undersupply in some cases
Good luck, hope you can keep going with it.

Just have to update my record - 17mls just after lunch today! It was about 15 minutes after a feed though, so not straight away. Took ages too but made my day. It's nice to have proof the domperidone is working!

I can vouch for domperidone if you go down that route. I think I'm pretty much on it (60-80mls per day) for the remainder of breastfeeding. Miss a pill, supply drops drastically. Stupid body!
