Hi guys

I am curious as to whether anyone on here knows anything about this, or has this problem.

I suspect I might have a hormone imbalance and I am going to go to the doctor soon.

Last year I went because I have a long cycle at 40 days and I had blood tests and an ultrasound. It showed I had very slightly high testosterone so they assumed PCOS, and did an ultrasound but it showed no cysts and I didnt have other symptoms so they said I didn't. And it never really went further than that as the doctor basically just said go away and try for a year (we hadn't started trying then). I didn't ask about any other hormones or what the results showed and I suspect they had their mind made up to look at it from a PCOS angle because as soon as I explained my cycle to the doc she said it was probably that it was like she didn't consider anything else.

But now 7 months into TTC and also still with the long cycle and only a random short bleed last month I cant help but think something is wrong.

I do think my hormones are all over the show. I get PMS symptoms quite badly, sore breasts a lot even when its not the right time in my cycle, sometimes I have night sweats and I am always tired and find it hard to go to sleep a lot, highs and lows in mood a lot., stomach problems a lot. I have googled (I know bad bad bad but hey we all do it) and these seem to be classic symptoms of a hormone problem.

So yeah I guess Im just wondering if anyone has experienced a hormone problem that wasn't PCOS and if so, what it was and what the treatment was?

I really just want to get this sorted.

Im going to the doctor in the school holidays in 2 weeks but any info I can get before that is helpful.

hi Lisas.... maybe you should ask your GP to refer you to an endrocrinologist... they specialise in hormones etc and he can do all the necessary investigations and tests.  If you have medical insurance, it will be covered by them,  if it is not referred as fertility testing.  I know an excellent endocrinologist if you want a recommendation.... but he is pricey.
