Hi ladies,

We are about to take a trip to the Gold Coast with our 4month old and was wondering if anyone has done this with their little one and what you did about sleep? As they are currently 3 hours behind us, is it best to keep her to NZ time for her sleep? We will be there for a week and this will mean she will go down to bed for the night at 5pm(GCtime) and as she sleeps 11.5hours will be up at 4.30am (GCtime). When she wakes at home for her 7.30am feed she will go back down straight away for another 2-2.5hours. So in OZ that would mean she would go back down till around 7-7.30am.... make sense? LOL

Would be great to hear anyone's advice/experience etc

We took DS1 when he was 15 weeks for about 1 week. We kept to his usually sleep times, give or take a wee bit and it worked fine.

We are taking our 2 year old and 5 month old next week and we will probably just do the same and see what happens.

We went when DD1 was 4 months old and just adjusted to their times, she took to it with no problem and was on her usual "routine" within a couple of days... took 3-4 days when we came back to NZ to sort things out though, but no real stress.

We usually try and let C adjust to local time when we travel - same as we do - otherwise you end up being up super early (or late) with nothing to do and being shattered in the evenings!

We've found C adjusts fairly easily when we're away now, we had a shocker coming back to NZ (5hr time difference) last year when he got sick but he still adjusted within a couple of days and when we got home he was great, 3 nights - 3 VERY early mornings and walks to the 24hr McD's for coffee for DH and I - and we were all back to normal
