About a week ago, Mac started screaming absolute blue murder when we got him out of the shower.
It started when we started using Johnsons bedtime bath to wash him. Dumb me didn't read the directions and realised it must have been stinging his skin.
So obviously we stopped using it and expected the screaming would stop, but it hasn't.

I can't work out if he is remembering the pain from the bath and getting himself so worked up that he thinks it's still happening to him or if something else is wrong.

DP thinks maybe he is too hot from the shower/bath cause the only way I can settle him down is to go for a walk outside with him.

Anyone got any ideas? It's quite distressing for us.

He may just get a bit tired from the excitement of having a shower. Both of my kids went through that, Ollie is still there. I give him a bottle to settle him while I'm towelling him dry, and try and be as soothing as possible to calm him down. He really loves his baths/showers and hates getting out anyway, but it's much worse if he gets too tired during the day or if he has a longer bath/shower than normal.

Worth a try!

We went through a similar phase, Jackson would scream the minute we put him in to the minute we got him dressed when normally he loved the bath and shower.

In hind sight I think it was cos we didnt have a proper bed time routine in place and he was over tired. It started about 10 weeks for us for memory and went on for about 4/5 weeks. Then we started doing 7pm bed time and bathing every night and since then bath time has been bliss.

We went through a phase of this too, I swear it was because Callum didn't want to get OUT of the bath If it is overtiredness you could try bathing him earlier in the day .... both my Mum and my MIL thought I was crazy bathing C at that time of night when he was tired ... apparently back in the day the done thing was a bath after the 10am feed Anyhoo just something else to try if you think it might work for you!

FWIW I carried on bathing C at night and just dealt with the tired cries for the couple of weeks that it lasted, tried to be faster getting him sorted after the bath etc. He LOVES his shower every day now!

Oliver is 10 mths and also cries whilst getting dry. I have started giving him his tootbrush whilst drying him and that seems to be working. I think he's just tired and knows bedtime is coming... his least favourite part of the day.

Im going through the same thing, I thought it was shampoo I was using and then it happened again when we didnt use it. Shes loves the shower and screams when out. last night I put her in the shower with dad way earlier and also had her mobile going to distract her and chatted to her heaps and far less tears!

Oh he definately doesn't cry in the shower/bath. He LOVES the water and has done since he had his first bath at 1 day old.

Wonder if Anthea has a point as he doesn't start the tears until we wrap him in his towel.
Could be overtiredness also.
Could be that he's too hot.

Going to be trial and error with this one I think.

He prob just loves it so much he doesnt want to get out.

ive got stacks of johnsons stuff and soaps etc but weve stopped using it and Jesses hormone rash is disappearing and hes not really gotten craddle cap either.........I just use the aqueaous cream that i use for my ecezma on him instead.

I have to use his shower as a way to hold him off from going to bed at 730pm......we manage to push him out to 830pm..........

Sounds like Mac loves his showers and is probably tired and hes expressing this by screaming.......
