Hi everyone.

My 9 month old has turned into a really rough Breast feeder. She hasn't always been like this, but has got worse over the last month or so. She sucks REALLY hard and pulls quite a bit too.

She only has about 3-5tbsps of solids per day - so still getting most of her food from me, but I am starting to dread feeding her!

Has anyone else been through this? Anyone have any suggestions?

You can always tell her no, that hurts and put her down for a bit... i think though - if i remember correctly - they do change how they feed for a bit when they get a few more teeth.

Jake has just started biting (finally got some teeth) and a few months ago he was nipping with those hard gums.

I tell him no and put him back on and if he does it again feed over. My nipples are already sensitive due to early pg dont need him munching on them... worse bit is he grins at me when he does it because he knows I am going to react because it hurts. (not that I believe he knows he is hurting me, rather that its a game because he does it and mummy cries out).

It doesn't seem to be biting - more just sucking really hard. It hurts the whole feed rather than just a single bite.

I remember DD doing this for about a month when she was around 7-8mths. It was really uncomfortable for the whole feed, it did coincide with more teeth popping through and I guess perhaps like Bizzy suggested she could have been changing how she was feeding. Eventually it just got easier, although that's little help for you now, sorry!
