So poor Mr 6-month-old can't win. First there's too little, now too much. Or is there?

He's only lasting 2 hours up. If I catch him at 1h45 or 2 hours he chats for about 6 - 8 min then sleeps for 1.5 hours plus. He does this three times a day. My prob is since the good day sleeps, his nights seem to be worse. This is only going by two or three nights... coincidence? Or is he getting too much day sleep and not enough awake time?

Is there anything else going on at the moment that could be affecting his nights? Teething? The heat?

At 6mo my DS was still doing 3 naps/day so short, long, short and only up for a max of 2hrs at a time. He would be more than ready for a sleep by about 8.45am after waking at 7ish.

Some kids are ready for less sleep earlier though .. if you do think it's the day sleeps affecting the nights then perhaps try getting him up earlier in the afternoon and see if that helps (over a few days).

I don't know the solution, but I'll be watching this with interest - Ava wakes about 4 times a night

DS1 was still having 3 sleeps a day at 12 months and was still doing 2 sleeps a day at just before 2 years. Some kids just sleep well during the day.

We could keep mac up later etc and it made no difference to his sleep. he would wake at 5.30am regardless of the time he went down so would always need 3 sleeps a day.

Both of mine dropped to 2 naps at 6 months - Morgan 2x1.5hrs and Jake did a big 2hr+ in the morning then about 45-60mins in the arvo. Both sleep well at night, so maybe you could try dropping one nap then into bed a little earlier?
