For some strange reason I seem to be able to bring up wind with no dramas at all during the day, in fact he pretty much brings his own wind up now................whereas during the night it seems to be so much harder. Theres been times when ive still been trying to bring his wind up an hour later still with no luck...........i give up and put him back to bed but he grunts so hard out that it doesnt sound comfy so i get him back up and sometimes he wil bring it up but sometimes not.............

Is there any reason why im having trouble bringing his wind up at night but not during the day?? Does anyone else have this problem only at night?

Does he definately have wind at night? My understanding is that when they are relaxed they tend to take in less air and therefore don't always have wind, apparently that's why you often don't have to wind with a dreamfeed. Ben rarely has wind at night

my mw said only try burping fo r5 mins....if he doesnt burp we lay him flat for a few mins then try again..and sometimes he ends up in bed then up a few mins later to burp.. Liam has a lot less wind at night too..

Yeah don't forget that if they can get it through he could just fart it out. Fart, burp, or poops is all considered wind

Yeah i do the put him back to bed but when the grunting gets too much and really loud i sit him up and he normally burps.......but most times its never enough and as soon as i lie him down he starts grunting again......Its a pain cos i would move him into his own room but he doesnt have one yet so i hav to listen to it.........i was using ear plugs but they seem to be making me claustrophobic and i wake up gasping.

Think i might have to accept my son does the opposite day/night burping.........we lie him on his side now and it seems to help a bit.......

Could you try infacol, gripewater or weleda colic powder at night to help bring up the wind?

I would try lying him down for 5 minutes before you try to bring up his wind, and also the baby whisperer showed a technique where you would lift them up, putting pressure on the tummy and the back before trying to wind.
I had the same problem as you, also try elevating his bed, we found side sleeping did help, and I tended to pat quite hard (mum mother thought I was crazy).

Thanks jo-james thought i was the only one and going crazy, yeah i have found putting him on my shoulder so his tummy is on my bone pushing into his tummy and patting seems to work better than the back rubbing.........I try to lie him down for a while but i feel stink cos hes wriggling round obviously uncomfy.........but will make myself wait a bit longer for the wind to join up etc.

I have tried gripewater and didnt really have any luck with that.

I did the elevating bed thing and it didnt make much difference.

Thanks for all the help and advise......

I found infacol worked way better than gripewater for C. I did the over the shoulder thing too which was great or if that didn't work I would try sitting him on my lap and gently leaning him forward and then back. That usually got the last of the wind up!

We also went through a phase when C would get terrible wind after his 2nd night feed and would grunt and fart till around 6am Sometimes the only way to fix that was to let him sleep upright on me which would help him get the farts out.

We have exactly the same thing - almost always after the second night feed - grunting and squirming and making so much noise after a feed around 4am - also making noise .... doesn't seem to happen after the 1-3am night feed, but I think its cause she doesn't really wake much so doesn't take down as much air.

I only try burp her very briefly and then put her down, if she really fusses I pick her up again and give it another go....

I thought I was the only one with this problem!! Although now he seems to bring it up a bit better at night.

I also agree with the baby whisperer technique, I find it works really well.

It seems to be getting a bit easier..........it certainly helps that hearing everyones advise that i was pretty much already doing, i know i am doing everthing i can...........cos DH would keep saying, "maybe there something else we could be doing or maybe theres something wrong with him" etc gotta love how the men can make you start questioning you and make you start to think when thinking is overrated..........lol

I have to say though that besides the little bit of wind issues now and then and getting even less since i started this thread, Hes such an easy baby!!! Sleeps well during the day and night and only cries if hungry or tired.........this is probably why i find myself wanting another one cos im getting it too darn easy........lol
