says has anyone had issues with angelcare monitor? We have moved house to a bigger place where previous people had issues with phone type things but would that cause issues? at parent end yesterday it beeped and at Liam's end today it went off and i was like 10 feet away ran in and he was fine?

Mine sometimes beeps once and then stops but I wondered if that was coz I have the temperature warnings on as I am not sure what it does when temp goes outside the limits (and the instruction book is less than two feet away from me, how lazy) and it seems to happen when it is very hot. On the other hand it might be something else, I am not sure.
Sorry..not much help am I...

Ps nice name ;-), that's my boys name too.

There was http://www.ohbaby.co.nz/Forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=31474&PN=1&TPN=1 - this about the monitors... I wrote a friends story about theirs going off, and I think having slats may set it off (there was suggestions about putting a layer of cardboard or other board type stuff between the slats and the mattress should help) and a couple of other suggestions...

we had those issues when we first moved and adjusting the sensitivity seems to sort it out and making sure the pads are lined up the way you used to have them

he is in basinette so wont be the slats..but we did have to get a new cariboo mattress and we couldnt find the right sized one(anywhere) at least not at any of the baby shops ..none were selling the mattress:( so we bought a slightly smaller one and DH cut the base board to fit..it makes me wonder if it has unbalanced it a bit?

we have been having issues with ours too, false alarms and lots of static when I'm not that far away (like out in the garden) its supposed to go to 200m but it def doesn't go that far. At the moment our sensor pads aren't working at all..... hopefully I can find the receipt and get it fixed!

when i put mine into the bigger cot (american size) we had a few false alarms too.. it was a pain in the butt getting up in the wee hours of the morning.. but id rather do that than not have it and something happen right !!

i had to move the pads a bit closer together and they have been fine ever since.

also try adjusting the sensitivity ... mine is on about 2 i think...

Sometimes the blankets tucked in under the mattress can make the mattress uneven and set it off. Well that's what's happened with ours in the past.

Ours beeps with power surges (we live rurally though and our power supply is up the pole). Gives me a heart attack everytime it goes off and i always check just in case.
Raspberryjame - I ordered a new power supply unit for mine from the baby factory, maybe phone where you bought it from and they should be able to help

I just had a thought maybe try different placing of the sensor pads.

A friend bought hers new ( I got mine on trade me) and the woman that sold it to her suggested she place one pad at the top right corner of the cot, and the other pad at the bottom left therefore getting more coverage. I've done this and there is no false alarms. Could be worth a try.

Be wary of blankets also thick ones tucked in can make the surface uneven and the sensor can't feel the movement.

yeah it is a very think cot blanket and i think thats causing unbalance...cause he's in basinette he only has one sensor which could also be an issue..

We had a cariboo gentle motions with DD and ours never went off while in it. One sensor in a bassinet is fine. Instead of tucking the blanket in underneath DD we used to put it overtop of the mattress so that it wrapped round her iygwim. We put a cloth nappy over the top of the bottom layer, then just popped her in the bassinet and wrapped the blanket over her. She tummy sleeps so we don't wrap

yeah I was scared of cot death hence the monitor

Try wrapping in a light wrap/muslim then if you've got a big enough blanket doing it that way so he has blanket underneath and overtop of him. The cloth nappy is for any leakages as they all like to have at some point (the only time we had leakage was in our bed luckily she was in her blanket at the time) This way you won't have the blanket running underneath the mattress and possibly interferring with the sensor pads
