Ok, so this little one seems to getting the hiccups every night and so I am pretty sure that once he comes out he will get the hiccups a lot as well (Ella was exactly the same - hiccups in utero and then had the hiccups as a baby).

With Ella I used gripe water, which seemed to work OK, but was wondering if anyone else can recommend anything else to use (I want to get something before he comes, so I am all prepared)?

Cheers,

We don't do anything for them, and they don't seem to bother Jade (who gets them more than Amber)?? Sometimes if they are really bad, and are affecting her, her dummy is a miracle worker...that was actually recommended by a NNU nurse, apparently the sucking helps?

Hiccups don't hurt them but I find Gripe water is good but messy so I generaly just shove a boob in his mouth. After feeding or sucking for a bit the hiccups go.
He won't take a dummy, but like Kate says, that'll work if you don't want to feed.

Milla used to get them all the time, probably because she breathed so fast, but the doctors said nothing would cure them, it was just her diaphragm spasming - she would grow out of it and she did

Generally I don't do anything for them, but if they really start to bother DD2 I just whip a boob out and voila! Fixed

Ooo same here!   I just shove a boob in his mouth and they are gone in less than a minute.

Boob here too, works straight away.

Cooper gets them all the time, did in utero too, and often they seem to upset him

thanks guys- completely forgot that sometimes feeding can stop the hiccups. Most of the time I wasn't too worried, its just when they are trying to go to sleep and then suddenly get the hiccups it can be quite frustrating.
