Over the last few days Jacksons day sleeps have been all over the place. From about 10 to 18 weeks he would have a good 1.5 hour morning sleep and then cat nap in the afternoon. Then since being home from NZ he started having great day sleeps up to 2 hours, it was awesome.

But in the last few days I put him to bed when I notice his tired signs (about 1.5 - 2 hours after waking) and he will cry for a few minutes then talk, play, roll around, grizzle in his cot for up to 2 hours and then cry for a few minutes and fall off to sleep!!

We dont have a set routine as such except our nightly routine and bed time is 7pm every night and the day usually starts about 7.30am. I follow feed play sleep and I feed him on demand, usually 2-3 hourly depending on his sleep cycle.

Why is he all of a sudden refusing to sleep?

The girls are pretty much refusing at the moment as well - I think it's a combination of teeth and heat here. It makes it very hard to get anything done

Yeah its hot here too, which wont be helping.

I gave him some rice and a wedge of nectarine for lunch today which he seemed to enjoy so will see if perhaps thats the issue.

Yeah bella is the same, I think its just the heat, and its quite normal baby behaviour too. He should start sleeping better soon. This heat is awful

Clodagh's never bloody slept and still isn't grrrrr....am sure it's the heat making things worse.  It is SOOOO hard though having a bubba who won't sleep. Nor fair

This sounds like my bub, he has been awake since 7.30 and despite my best efforts he is still awake at 5.30. Tried pretty much everything to get him to sleep but he goes to sleep for five minutes then wakes up. Maybe it is the heat but we have air con on all day so I dunno. Pretty depressing though as I get nothing done all day.

Yeah Nat its terrible and I feel bad when I cant get things done. But since posting, I started giving Jackson some lunch time solids and that seems to have done the trick for now at least Gosh they change so fast its hard to keep up with all this detective work

Where in Aus are you?

Rianna - I also wonder if perhaps it's a developmental thing. Ryan has been doing the exact same thing and he also seems to be wanting to drop down to 2 naps from 3. Than combined with his new found ability to move around cause a few dramas come sleeptime. I can't blame the heat here and we run our heatpump when it gets hot and he has a fan in his room as well. I'm thinking it will run it's course...fingers crossed...
