Hi TTC friends Just wondering what your thoughts are about TTC number 2...ie when is the time 'right' (or as right as it'll ever be!)? My situation (bit long sorry but I really want some advice): We have a 7 month old gorgeous baby daughter born last May. She's awesome and a busy, bright albeit sometimes slightly short tempered bubba (damn those genes of daddys...ahem I'm 36 in March and it took nearly a year to get pg with Clodagh through charting..although we did get pg after 5 months we m/c that bubba. I am going back to uni part time this year after missing the last 2 semesters. My lecturers are awesome and whilst heavily pg with Clodagh, they made sure I had easy access to lectures and carparks etc. So they would be very accomodating although obviously I would still have to do the work lol. I'm 'only' planning on doing one paper per term but it's still alot of work when combined with a bubba. Of course I can drop a paper if needed, no drama. I'm also still BF, which I love and don't want to give up. My AF returned about oh 30 days ago lol and am now waiting for it to return again. I guess I have lots of little projects on this year and Clodagh is turning out to be quite the busy baby, not shy or quiet at all like I thought she would be! Am definitely not complaining, just I'm concerned how I'd cope with another when she is already a handful at times. On the other hand, I'm getting old and crusty so I can't leave it too long. So when is the 'right' time? I ask because when AF finally rears her head again then I have a 3 month supply of the mini pill which I could take to delay getting pg...but I HATE taking anything, esp when BF so that's a concern and also I have days when I think oh we should get pg again...and then the nights come when Clodagh is being a wee trick and not sleeping and I think argh I'm not doing this again, it's too hard...not to mention having bad MS again and having to give birth of course...and the after match results from that (my least favourite part lol). My body is still healing TBH although I've never been thinner lol (BF is great for that!). So, what do you think? Start TTC or not? -------------   http://lilypie.com" rel="nofollow">

im still ttcing number one but i say go for it...now is a good as time as ever and besides it may end up taking you a year to get UTD (i hope not for your snaity's sake but YKWIM)  ------------- Ds1 - 20 months old Ds2 - 4 months old |

I'm with t41 we waited to ttc no.3 as Ive never had trouble conceiving in the past and now we've been trying for a year... so wish we'd started earlier...
I wouldn't worry about the BFing thing... I found it so hard and painful with no.1 but a breeze with no.2... ------------- mum to 3 lovely girls :D |

this is a hard one.. for me although i was worried about the age gap when we got preg when E was 10 months...(we mced) when i got pregnant this time i found the main thing is the extreme tiredness..I am constantly exhausted and cant imagine doing a whole lot except caring for Ethan..
having said that he is a busy nearly two year old now..and obviously it is different for each person.. i would analyse how you feel about it all and the pros and cons.. just think that you will have a 15/16 month old when next one is born if you get preg soon:) having said that as you say at 36 you dont want to wait too much longer either.. in short if it were me i would wait 6 months or so but if the thought of a 2 year gap makes you sick then i would ttc now:) and each baby is different so bfing might be brilliant or awful depending on the baby .... ------------- Mum to two amazing boys! |

If you dont want a big age gap then go for it. We started when jake was 6 months and no joy yet. BF does muck around with ov and LP. So far I am on my 4th cycle with one annovulatory and 2 with 7/8 day LP's (Day 46 and still no ov on this cycle). Point to that waffling, even if you start now there is no guarentee that you will be ovulating right away as prolaction inhibits ovulation... (if you check my thread about TTC while bf weegee posted a link to kellymom and there is some good info there.) Then again you could just get pg right away.... Come on back to the charting thread, you know you wanna... -------------

I can live vicariously through you guys....according to DH we're not allowed to TTC again until the girls are 2 (he wants to wait till they're 3, but stuff that, I want them closer together and then it's all the "hard" stuff done and over with!!)... |

I'd say go for it too, I'm 36 and have been TTC for a year for #1 if i'd known it would take this long I would have started ages ago.

I'm in the "go for it" camp, but as you can see from my ticker I'm possibly a little bit biased seeing as we've just started TTC #2 ourselves
I wanted to start trying a few months back but DH wasn't as keen till we got some help sorted for C so that we could get some time back for ourselves. The thought of TWO kids and no time to himself was really putting him off, so that was his deal breaker. Now that we're trying I am excited about getting pregnant again soon but terrified as well - worried that it might not be as easy this time and also worried that it could be easy and we'll have 2 under 2

I say go for it as well! Of course it will be hard but as we all know the good stuff always outweighs the bad when it comes to having a baby and while the first year may be tough I think in the long run a small age gap makes for closer siblings.
We are currently trying for number 3 (2nd pregnancy) and I often wonder if we are totally nuts lol. But I know our family isn't complete and I just feel the timing is perfect. I guess you just have to go with your gut. There will always be reasons not to have a baby but if you just feel it's the right time and you both really want it then go for it! :) -------------

Go for it if it feels right.
And you can def breastfeed while pregnant - just make sure you are eating plenty of healthy food to keep up milk supply and keep the bubba well nourished too. However your daughter may not like your milk when the colostrom comes through and may self wean. Also you need to think if you have really sore breasts when pregnant will you be able to cope with bf-ing? BF-ing shouldn't be painful, maybe talk to a lactation consultant or something, they might be able to give you some help to ensure that it is easier the next time around. |
