What do you use. What are the pros & cons.

Im going to take a trip to the doctors to talk about it this week. But it would be good to know other peoples opinions on what works for them.

Before starting to try for JJ I was on the pill, had been for about a decade. Pros were I could skip AF when I felt like it, and it was reliable. Main con was that my 'natural' weight seemed to be about 10kg heavier than it is off the pill. I decided I didn't like messing around with my hormones after JJ arrived, so we were using condoms. Pros of condoms were that they were reasonably convenient, but mostly it was just that they didn't involve any messing about with hormones. Cons - a.) hated the practicalities of using them, stopping to put one on, the feel of it, etc and b.) whoops look here comes number 2

I have a Mirena IUD.

Pros: It lasts 5 years, steroids only work locally on uterus (doesn't affect mood etc), periods get lighter or might even stop after 6 months to a year (helps iron levels and spend less on sanitary products), don't need to remember pills or condoms...

Cons: Expensive if you can't get it subsidised because of low iron levels, bleeding/spotting can occur for the first 6 months-ish until things settle down...

Can't think of anything else to add at the moment. I don't stop bleeding on the pill and it makes me get really depressed (tried about 8 different ones). I don't really trust condoms as that is where Ollie sprung from can't have injection for the same reasons as can't have the pill. And have really heavy bleeding and low iron, so copper IUD not really appropriate.

i have tried a lot so here what i think-

pill Cons: you have to take it every day and remember to take it at the same time every day. can give you headaches
pro: cheap

depo cons: MADE ME PUT ON 20KGS IN A YEAR! still cant get rid of the weight! can be painful to get
pros: dont have to remember to take it every day. far less chance of a 'mistake'

condoms cons: have to stop to put them on!

Mirena IUD- only had this taken out coz we are TTC
cons: can be painful to have it put in and taken out. can cost a bit to have it put in.
pro: dont have to remember about it! it stopped my AF for the 3ish years that i had it in
