Now that DS has just got his first two teeth through (and I mean only just, they're not all the way through yet) do I need to start brushing them??
If so - HOW? I can't imagine he's gonna be too keen on it! Plus, if I use toothpaste, surely he'll just swallow it?!  ------------- http://alterna-tickers.com">

| My daughter didn't have any teeth at 6 months, but from about 5 months we were brushing her gums with a clean flannel and water (and a silly little toothbrushing song). We'd do it every time she ate - so eat, wash face, and then brush gums before we went on to the next activity. |

I was totally confused about the whole teeth brushing thing as well lol. We started as soon as teeth broke the skin but rather than brushing we did the same as flutterby and used a clean cloth with some water.
When it comes to toothpaste you use such a tiny amount that it doesn't matter too much if the swallow some. My girls HATE their teeth being brushed. We do it morning and night but we have to really pin them down to do it. I always feel like I'm torturing them lol but it's part of life one of those things that just has to be done unfortunately. All you can do is stick with it and hope your bubs is one of the easy going ones lol -------------

We didn't bother doing teeth that young, Daniel hated it and I didn't want him to be one of those kids that hates their teeth being brushed and having to force it.
We just gave daniel a toothbrush (very soft) when we brushed our teeth and he watched us, he mostly just chewed on it at first but now hes great at brushing them by himself. Brushing teeth in this house is sooo easy now, he goes running to the bathroom demanding his tooth brush. Its fantastic. He will even tell us off if we don't put paste on it lol. He does his own teeth and then every few days I get another brush and he lets me brush them for him then. Because we have made it fun he loves doing it. |

We started brushing Cadens teeth as soon as they were through the gum, just with a little bit of kids paste and a little toothbrush. he mostly just sucked on the toothbrush at that age, and still does lol, but he lets us brush his teeth now, we say "Open wide ahhhhhhh" and he does  then when we are done brushing we let his suck the tooth brush, we are going to start brushing our teeth when he does though, so he can see us doing it and hopefully he will start to copy us.------------- |

i used a soft flannel on mine when they first come through... you dont need to use toothpaste till they get a bit older as they arent supposed to swallow it (but i dont know why!) they i used to give them a toothbrush to play with and they would copy us. ------------- http://www.myfitnesspal.com/weight-loss-ticker">

I think its just that it can give them a sore tummy, but thats only if you use too much toothpaste, you only need the teeny tiniest amount.
We used paste right from when he got teeth at 7 months old. ------------- |
